Our Crestwood Park Curriculum

Crestwood Park Primary Curriculum

What we do at Crestwood Park is much more than the National Curriculum. From the very start of the journey your children will take with us, we will inspire and motivate them to be 'the very best they can be'.

The way we teach our lessons, the way we organise our days and the way treat our school family reflects the values and qualities that are important to us. Our SPARKS values sum up the behaviour we expect throughout the school, no matter what your role may be.

Using the National Curriculum as a corner stone, we provide our childen with a broad and balanced curriculum. That is not to say that we spend an equal aount of time on everything, rather we spend more time on what our children need more of, in order for any gaps to close and to prepare them for life beyond Crestwood Park.

The planning behind the Crestwood Park Curriculum ensures our children have experiences that go over and above what can be achieved within the classroom. Vision statements for all subjects tell of the opportunities our children are given: experiencing the creative arts in different environments, learning about workplaces, trades, politics and democracy, opportunities to encounter new places of worship and visits to people and places that leave lasting impressions are threaded throughout projects and themes. Our children's local heritage is at the core of the curriculum and this knowledge and understanding of our locality and our history is key.

Our job is to educate each child as a whole and part of this is to teach them how to keep safe: keeping safe in their homes and in the community, learning about relationships, being protected from and learning about racism & extremism, learning about harmful substances and knowing basic first aid are all part of our commitment to our children.

Our ultimate aim for all Crestwood Park children is that they leave our school being emotionally, socially, academically and physically prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond.

The National Curriculum forms one part of our school curriculum which we are legally required to follow. It is one element of the education of each of our children.
