Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter!

Although we've ended the week with some patches of blue sky, it certainly hasn't been like that all week! Thankyou for being on the ball with providing your children with sun hats one day and coats, scarves and gloves the next!

Year Two came out of their 'bubble' today so it was good to see them back in assembly. Our COVID cases have dropped again and hopefully it won't be too long before we re case-less, however, the guidance around testing and isolation changed from today (see below for more details) so hopefully any further cases won't have the same type of impact on attendance.

Next week is a busy one- our next Crestwood Park Act of Kindness takes place in the local community on Monday afternoon, a past pupil who is now a Lance Bombardier in the Army is visiting KS2 on Tuesday, Reception's Class trip is on Wednesday, Sports 'day' at the Dell Stadium is on Thursday morning, children will be decorating eggs on Thursday afternoon (and there's a visit from Mike Wood MP) and then on Friday morning we will be holding our Easter Assembly! Following the success of the outdoor Mothers' Day assembly, we are considering holding this outside too, but the weather isn't looking quite as good. We will make a decision on Wednesday and let you know via a sch.life message.

Thankyou to those parents who attend our assemblies- the children get quite excited about the 'big' assemblies and to have them so well supported by parents and families, makes it even more special.

Thankyou also for the generous donations for the Black Country Foodbank. After the amazing amount you gave for the Ukraine appeal, we thought there might not have been so many donations, but in fact...and typically for CPPS families, you were as giving and thoughtful as always...thankyou!

When to stay at home and when to come to school!

The Government Guidance around COVID changed today. We are being encouraged to 'live with' the virus and now many people have build up some immunity, we are advised to approach it in similar ways that we would deal with other similar illnesses.

The information below helps you decide when you need to keep children and home, and when they are fine to come to school.

Children with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to attend school.

Children who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home. They can go back to school when they no longer have a high temperature and they are well enough to attend.

Normal, sensible preventative measures will help to reduce the spread-  we encourage all children with coughs and colds to cover their mouth and nose with a disposable tissue when coughing and/or sneezing and to wash their hands after. We will keep rooms well ventilated and children will continue to wash their hands regularly during the day.

As always, we are very happy to talk to you about any queries so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Easter Fun Day - Monday 11th April

We are egg-stra egg-xited to announce we will be running an Easter Fun day on Monday 11th April.

The day will involve lots of sports' games and will include some cracking Easter fun too!

Look out for the yellow letter with more information on.

This club is egg-tremley popular so please make sure you return your letter to avoid missing out!

Sports Day - Thursday 7th April (Years 1-6)

Following the success of previous sports days, we have again arranged to use The Dell Stadium, Bryce Road on Thursday 7th April.

Could all parents take children directly to The Dell Stadium for the normal registration time of 8.55am. Teachers will be waiting to greet children there.

Children will need to arrive in their P.E kit with a t-shirt/top with their house colours on. A slip has been sent home with your child's house colour but if you are unsure please speak with your child's class teacher.

Don't forget a named water bottle and clothing which suits our lovely British weather!

Children will then walk with staff back to school in time for their normal lunchtime routine. Parents of reception children have had a separate letter with different arrangements for getting back to school. Please make sure you have booked your child's lunch if required.

More information can be found on the letters sent out last week, but if you have any questions, please contact the school office.

A message from the Pastoral Team

Hope you are well and have managed to keep warm this week!

As we near the end of  a busy term we know that many children are beginning to feel tired and overwhelmed.

To support children when experiencing big emotions we have attached some information to help your child understand how their feelings can affect the way they behave and how we as parents can support them.

We're here as always and can be contacted via the office or email skovacs@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk or spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk.

We hope you all have a fantastic weekend and look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Easter Hamper

Don't forget we have got some Easter Chocolate hampers up for grabs!

Tickets are £1 a strip and can be purchased from Mrs Kennedy & Mrs Cooper on the playground before or after school.

All proceeds will go towards our school fund.

Easter Service - Friday 8th April

Due to a few Covid cases in school we are considering holding our Easter Assembly outside at 9:10am on Friday 8th.

The great British weather will also have a part to play in our decision. ☔🌞⛅

We will let you know the decision by Wednesday 6th April.

We appreciate your patience and  understanding.

Final few days! All tokens to be handed to school by Monday 4th!

We are in the final week of Cash for Schools!

The last token published will be on Saturday 2nd April so please make sure that any tokens collected are in school by Monday 4th April.

As always your have been an amazing in collecting the tokens! So a BIG thank you to everyone who has handed them in so far!

The more tokens we can collect the more chance we have of winning a share of a massive £12,000!

You can hand your tokens to your class teacher.

Community Acts of Kindness

'Parents' Gardening Group

A BIG thank you to the parents who very generously gave up their free time to help with the gardening around the school yesterday and a special mention to Mrs Martin who kindly donated lots of gardening equipment! Thank you.

The group will be meeting again on Thursday 7th at 1pm,  so if you didn't come this week but are interested in joining in, please email Ms Bullas abullas@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk or let the office know.

We're not looking for gardening experts, just willing volunteers!

Thankyou!

And finally,

We've realised that some parents weren't informed that their child was receiving an Achievement Certificate today- sincere apologies to parents and children for this.

Have a super weekend everyone- looking forward to seeing you all on Monday.
