Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Events this week in school have left me feeling so very proud of our children. I think at this point I must say an extra big thankyou to our staff, because they have all really gone the 'extra mile' this week to ensure our children have had such memorable, purposeful, educational and engaging experiences. Events only ever run smoothly because of all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Just to list what has happened this week in school leaves me astounded. We have had Summer Fun, Parent workshops, a Folk Band visit, a Year 4 Cornet Performance, a Social Action visit and a Local Area Exhibition. Throughout, our children have responded with enthusiasm and respect. This newsletter is certainly a celebration of this... enjoy reading on!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Harmonee, Daisy and Lewis who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be celebrating over the weekend.

Monday 23rd July - Non-Uniform Day for Crestwood Cups

In exchange for a donation for a non-uniform day on Monday 3rd July we are asking children to return their Crestwood Cups full of goodies!

You can fill them with sweets, chocolates, toiletries, stationery! Anything you can think of that would make a great prize to win on the Crestwood Cup Tombola during the Great Get Together Picnic on Friday 7th July.

Get Together Picnic - Friday 7th July

This is going to be our biggest Get Together Picnic yet!

Don't forget to invite your friends and relatives - it would be great to meet our wider community and enjoy this event together.

Tickets for the Rainbow Raffles will be available to purchase from next week - look out for your HSA team on the KS1 playground in the wooden hut!

Tickets are £1 to purchase and winners will be announced at the Get Together Picnic!

Local Heritage Week

You all looked fabulous today!

It is great to see you all getting involved with our themed days at school - this week it has been LOCAL HERITAGE WEEK and today was our LOCAL AREA STUDY DAY. Thank you to all parents who attended our exhibition.

On Tuesday this week, we were fortunate enough to be visited by 'The Young'uns', an award-winning folk duo from Teesside.

The children enjoyed an assembly showcasing their talents and then each class had a songwriting and singing workshop.

Key Stage 2 wrote a song with them about our local heritage, which was performed for parents at the end of the day.

Everyone had a fantastic time and we can't wait to sing our song for you again in the future!

Open Evening - Thursday 6th July.

From collection time on Thursday, until 4.30pm, school will be open should you wish to 'drop in' to see your child's existing teacher or to meet the teacher for next year.

Summer Fun Week

Summer Fun has been a blast! We love holding these events for children in school, it is nice to see them let their hair down and have fun with their friends.

All of the money raised during these events go back to the children in helping us fund coaches, theatre shows and extra treats and goodies throughout the year!

We appreciate your continued support during these events.

Looking after our wellbeing

What an exciting week we've had in school.

We would love to share that we have made connections with Crafting for Communities.

They have donated a wonderful selection of resources for our children, ranging from worry worms, hearts to support attachment, sensory tools e.g. fiddle cuffs, stress heads and a worry monster.

We would love to be able to support and thank this charity who give up their time freely making these amazing creations.

You can help by donating balls of wool -  any kind of wool and any colour. We would be so grateful to be able to give a little back. The wool can be given to the office or directly to the class teacher.

Thank you so much for your continued support we really appreciate it. Lots of love The Pastoral Team xxx

School Council - Social Action Project

The school council have been working hard to deliver a social action project.

Their aim was to brighten the days of people with dementia. On Wednesday morning, they went to the Crystal Gateway to bring all their hard work together.

They chatted, delivered a rock painting activity and handed out refreshments to the people in attendance.

They even got to use a magic table! We were so impressed with how the students acted on the day and they were a real asset to our school.

There were lots of smiles all round!

Celebrating Our Children's Work

Year 4 have been exploring census' from 1911 to discover who used to live on Bromley Lane and what their occupations were.

They created a 3D model showing more detail of the families that used to live in our local area.

Take a look at our very own interpretation of Bromley Lane in 1911.

Well Done to all of Year 4, you have worked so hard on this.

Foodbank Friday - 30th June

Thank you for all of your generous donations - They have all been collected and will be distributed to those who need a little extra help this summer!

TT Rockstars!

A massive well don to Isacc who is our times tables champion for the week again!

This time he has answered an incredible 6000 questions correctly in just one week. That has to be a new reccord.

Well done Isacc!

Well done to year 3 who continue to work their socks off and lead the way. And come on year 5, this is getting embarrassing!

Naughty Nasty Nits

It has come to our attention that there is an outbreak of head lice in KS1. We need everyone's help to get this under control.

Treatment: Wash hair and apply a generous amount of conditioner. With a fine toothed comb, carefully comb the hair from the scalp to the end of the hair. Look at the comb after each stroke and wipe clean. If done thoroughly, this will remove all live lice as the hair is so slippery they can't cling on! This is the most effective treatment, but needs repeating on a daily basis until all eggs have vanished. Chemical treatments can be purchased over the counter but it is known that some head-lice become resistant to these and, therefore, no chemical preparation is 100% effective.

Clothes, bedding, and towels used by a person with head lice two days before treatment should be washed in hot water and dried on the hot cycle to kill any lice. Other items that cannot be washed or dry-cleaned can be placed in a sealed plastic bag for two weeks to kill any lice or nits on those items.

Please remember, there is no shame in having head-lice but it is shameful to do nothing about it!

Summer is here, and while we enjoy the warm weather, let's not forget about keeping homes safe.

Criminals will take advantage of open windows and propped open doors, even if it’s the back door.

Keep you and your home safe this summer by following these useful tips:

1.     Make sure doors and windows are closed and locked. Even if you’re just popping out, lock up and secure your home.

2.     Consider installing window locks to prevent intruders from easily opening your windows.

3.     Consider installing a home security system with visible cameras and alarm systems to deter burglars.

4.     Keep your valuables out of sight. Close blinds or curtains to prevent prying eyes from scouting your belongings. Shutting the blinds will keep your house cooler.

5.     Give a spare key to a trusted neighbour or invest in a secure key lockbox.

6.     Hosting family or friends in your garden - don’t invite burglars to the party. Keep your side entrance, back door, or garden gate closed/locked.

7.     Tidying the garage or dusting off the bikes for summer adventures? Lock up and keep that garage door closed. It takes seconds for thieves to spot and take expensive tools/bikes/motor vehicles.

8.     For extra security keep porch doors locked, wheelie bins away from low fences or garages, and sheds secure.

Finally...

I think every one deserves a well earned rest this weekend after such a busy week!

My quote to end reiterates just how proud I am of the Crestwood Park Family, no more so than this week...

"I am proud of you and everything you've accomplished. Keep shining and never stop believing in yourself."

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
