Welcome to our Newsletter
This week has ended in sunshine and this morning's assembly delivered by Year 1 was certainly a ray of sunshine for us all. The children performed brilliantly to tell us all about 'History Makers' and it was decided unanimously that Marie Curie is a real favourite of the Crestwood Park family. A big thank you to all of the Year 1 staff who helped the children to prepare and to our families who provided such wonderful costumes and props. Fingers crossed that next Friday brings us sunshine too, as we plan to celebrate our well-being and the coronation with a 'Dancing through the Decades' performance out on the playground at 2.45pm-this will replace our usual morning assembly. We hope to see lots of you there! As always this newsletter will keep you updated as to events occurring and information we feel is worth sharing. Thank you to everybody who reads it each week... it really is one of the best ways to stay informed!
Happy Birthday to you...

Well Being Day 5th May 2023

For the Well-being Day on Friday 5th May we are asking the children to come to school dressed in red, white and blue to acknowledge the coronation of King Charles.
The day will play host to various activities to promote well-being and to celebrate our new King.
At 2.45pm, we would like to invite parents onto the playground (weather permitting) to be entertained by a celebratory coronation performance. This assembly will replace the usual Friday morning assembly.
As a tribute to our King, the children will Dance you through the Decades!

Celebrating our Children's Work

Looking after our wellbeing

5p Fridays

5p Friday's are proving very successful! Every class is now well on the way to saving enough for their planned prize.
We will continue to ask for each child to bring in a 5 pence piece on a Friday. The children will take charge of counting the money and calculating how much more they need to reach their goal.
The challenge is to raise enough in order to be able to pay for their chosen reward. Please ask your children what their class are saving towards!
This will be a fantastic opportunity for each class to know the importance of budgeting, saving and spending!
There is no obligation for you to contribute, but it would be greatly appreciated!
Dying Matters Awareness Week
We have received some information from Mary Stevens Hospice, that we feel may benefit some of our parents and children.
During Dying Matters Awareness Week, our bereavement team are looking to encourage the community to talk about their grief, bereavement and death.
We have a project in mind offering bereaved children and young people express their grief through art and crafts, poems and stories etc. on Saturday 13th May (10am - 2pm) at Red House Glass Cone.

Flashback to Foodbank Friday!

"Thank you very much for your Easter donation to BCFB. The food and toiletries donated will go towards helping those in your community who are in crisis."
We collected and donated 71.5kgs of food and 8.5kgs of non-food, an amazing amount!

SCHOOL COUNCIL - Social action project
The school council have been taking part in a social action project. They have decided that the aim of this project is to brighten the days of our local elderly community, particularly those with dementia. This stems from the fact that some of our children have experience of relatives with a dementia diagnosis. They have been working closely with a representative from dementia friends. Some of the older councillors will be visiting The Crystal Gateway, a centre which provides daytime support sessions for people diagnosed with dementia in Dudley.
For part of the session, they will be conducting a craft activity which will involve painting pebbles/shells.
If you take a visit to the beach, please help us, and collect any pebbles/shells then bring them to Miss Obertelli by Friday 23rd June. Thank you!
A message from your HSA
Don't forget we are still looking for businesses who may want to support/attend our Get Together Picnic on Friday 7th July.
If you are able to pass these details on to anyone who you think may be interested and ask them to contact chsa@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk
Thank you

Finally...
As I sign off this week, I have once again used words from a quote I like!
My message is….
“A Bank Holiday weekend is the time to sleep, listen to music, read more books, have long walks, say Hi to family, laugh more with friends, dream every day, have a couple of road trips and show more love, because it is simply the bank holiday weekend which equals: FUN!”
Enjoy everyone and we’ll see you back in school on Tuesday.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
