Welcome to our Newsletter
It has been lovely to welcome the children back into school after the half term break.
Infact it has been a week of welcoming!
We welcomed a new member of staff to our Crestwood Park family. Our new Admin Assistant-Miss Demi Horton- joined us this week and we are really pleased to see how welcoming our children have been to her. She has enjoyed her first week and is doing her best to learn everyone's names. Look out for her Meet the Staff poster coming soon!
The Book Bus was certainly a welcome addition to our car park on Wednesday. Of course it didn't just arrive by chance! Special thanks go to Mrs Cadman for organising this. As you will see from the photos and blurb below, it proved to be an amazing success.
We also welcomed parents and carers into school on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. We hope that you found looking at children's work and discussing your children's reports beneficial. The feedback I received from parents on both evenings was very positive so thank you. If you do have time to complete our survey, we would also very much appreciate it.

Mrs Cadman's English News

It really has been a fantastic week for READING and we haven't even had World Book Day yet!
The Book Bus created such a buzz, resulting in some superb conversations around reading, authors and favourite books. We have had numerous book donations sent in - a big thank you to all those families who have had a sort out and have donated good quality books for our shelves. The excitement leading up to next week's WBD has started and the Reading Ambassadors have been busy planning an exciting day.
Please take a look at the photos I've been sent during half term and this week - celebrating the LOVE of READING! I also met one of our favourite book characters during half term - DOGMAN!

Buzzin' for the Bus
The excitement surrounding the Book Bus was simply fantastic on Wednesday. Our children really do love reading and we are so proud of how they independently chose their own books and paid for them!
Thank you to all the parents who sent in money for the children to spend. As a school, £1300 was spent on the Book Bus - which means school will be able to spend just over £200 on new books. On Thursday (World Book Day - see further details in this newsletter) children will get the opportunity to chose some books for their class book shelves.
To become fluent readers, we know that children need to feel pleasure in reading and that is exactly what we saw on Wednesday!
A big thank you to the Year 6 Reading Ambassadors who helped out during the afternoon.
Thank you again for all your support.

World Book Day 2025
It's that time of year again when we get to celebrate World Book Day, although at Crestwood Park, every day is a day when we celebrate reading!
We are inviting all children to come dressed as a storybook character. If you have the book your character is from, you can bring it in with you to share with your class.
There will be lots of activities planned throughout the day, led by the Year 6 Reading Ambassadors. We will also be introducing a competition for all children to enter.
Children will be coming home with their £1 book tokens today - these can be spent on the £1 books published for WBD or can go towards the purchase of any book.
As the theme is 'Read Your Way' please email me a photo of your child 'reading their way'. This might be in their favourite place, outfit or with someone special. I would love to show as many of these photos in Thursday's assembly.
Please email them to acadman@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk.

Health & Safety

PLEASE PARK SAFELY AND CONSIDERATELY!
Could we please remind parents/carers to park SAFELY AND CONSIDERATELY near school. This includes when dropping off or picking up a child from Poppyfields. This is so we can keep everyone in our school community safe. It is always tempting to pull up as close as possible, with no regard for the Highway Code as
it's raining, and
it's nearer, and
you're not going to be long, and
other people are doing it etc ......
But the Highway Code is clear
Rule 243
DO NOT stop or park:
- opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
Please help us to keep everyone safe. Thank you.

Meet the staff

Finally...
It was great to see everyone looking so bright in school today for such a worthy cause.
On that note, I would like to wish you all a bright and cheery weekend! xxx

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
