Welcome to our Newsletter
Welcome to this week's newsletter where we are able to share more of what your children have been learning recently. All of our children complete daily English and maths lessons. However, there are so many other elements to their curriculum at Crestwood Park.
Last week was Design and Technology week across school. Please keep scrolling to see what projects the children completed.
Today saw the children's History and Geography work on display in the hall as children showcased their learning from this term's Local Area Study. A photo of what was on display is included below. Thank you to all of the families who visited the exhibition at the end of the day.
On Monday all classes will embark on 'Fieldwork Day'. The children can wear their own clothes in return for a bottle donation on Monday too. (The bottles will be used for our Bottle Tombola at next Friday's Get Together Picnic!) Please note that Forest school will still be taking place for years 2, 4 and 6- so pupils in those classes, don't forget to also bring with you a long sleeved top, bottoms and wellies!

Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Billie, Eric and Harmonee who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be over the weekend.

Design & Technology Week
In year 6 we explored electrical systems looking at different types of monitoring and control. We learnt how to make different types of switches, including pressure sensor switches. Then we worked in teams to design a monitoring or alarm system which included one of our switches. We then placed this into a model of a shop or building.

In year two, we are exploring templates and joining techniques. We have evaluated existing products and their joins and have now planned the steps to create our own finger puppets to retell a story. Our next step is to make and evaluate our design.

In year 1 we have begun our DT week trying a variety of different fruits, so we are able to design our fruit kebab. We picked which fruits we would like to include on our fruit kebab. We will make these in the next couple of weeks and enjoy at a picnic!

Afterschool clubs.
Take a look at the Summer After School Clubs.
If there are any changes to clubs, we will notify you as soon as possible via a sch life message.

Our SPARKS!

The focus for this term is... SAFE!
Children will be trying to earn 10 SAFE points in a number of ways.
These include -
- Tuck in chairs and sit on chair properly.
- Sit still and calmly when eating lunch- do not move around with food in your mouth.
- Eat toast and drink milkshakes in a safe space- sitting down outside.
- Carry scissors the safe way.
- Use all equipment in the way you have been shown
- Make sure you remain in sight of an adult outside at all times.
- Report any spillages/hazards that you see in school.
- Play games safely and always tidy equipment away.
- Follow instructions when playing on any equipment.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Wear sunscreen or a cap on sunny days.
- On school trips, follow all the safety rules given to you by the adults.
- Walk sensibly around the school building.
- If you see a visitor/stranger who is not wearing a lanyard, tell an adult.
Pastoral Update

Stay SAFE in the heat.
Please remember to send a water bottle and a cap into school for your child during these hot sunny days.
Please apply sun cream before they come to school.
We will always remind children to find shady places when outside and we will make alternative arrangements for break, lunch and blast time, when the heat is too much.

Only a few sessions left of Forest School this term.
Please pay close attention to the required items. Even when it is hot, children still need to have long sleeves and trousers.

Fingers crossed the sun keeps shining for our Get Together Event after school next Friday!
In the meantime, if the sun continues to shine over the weekend, I hope you all find time to enjoy it!

DPA - Learn to Play

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
