Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

As we approach February, I’m sure we are all hoping for brighter days. Fortunately, inside of school, our children remain bright and cheerful! Such enthusiasm was clear to see from our year 2 children this morning as they performed their class assembly.  The knowledge shown about ‘The Great Fire of London’, the special effects and their singing was simply amazing!

Speaking of performing, we are very much looking forward to our annual Talent Show, due to be held at The Crestwood School next Thursday evening. See below for more details.

Our children certainly seem to enjoy singing and dancing, so on Thursday 8th February, they can put both skills into action at our Valentines Disco! Again, more details are below.

Enjoy reading on…

Happy Birthday to you...

Exciting News!

We are writing to you to share some personal news which we hope you will join us in celebrating! Ms Bullas is expecting her first child in July 2024! She is feeling well and in answer to the question most people have asked her, she isn’t planning to find out the sex of the baby. She wants to have a surprise!

Her maternity leave is likely (all being well) to commence in June 2024. She is disappointed that she will be unable to complete this academic year in school with her children but we want to reassure parents that we have taken steps to ensure the transition is smooth for the children so that their last month or so in Reception will be successful. A letter has been sent out to Reception parents with more details.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns at all we would be happy to discuss these with you.

Looking After Our Wellbeing

Another week has flown by and the nights are getting a little lighter, hopefully spring is just around the corner.

This week we would like to share a website which offers support for parents.  It offers helpful tips and advise on how to support your child when they are angry or anxious or if you're wanting to support healthy gaming habits for your child.  There are 51 topics to check out, some include small video clips which are really useful. No one prepares us for parenthood but by sharing our worries and picking up tips from others it can help to give us fresh ideas.

As always we are here for you, just call the office or email spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk  and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Have a lovely weekend, keep safe and look after each other, lots of love The Pastoral Team xxx

Celebrating our children's work

This week, reception have been set some challenges by Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.

They have been asked to build a contraption to pick up the golden egg from a distance, to find a way to lower the golden egg to the bottom of the beanstalk and a way to protect the egg if it gets dropped!

They've worked really hard on their challeneges and have come up with some innovative solutions!

Here are some pictures of Alfie A-H, Oakley, Nancy-Mae, Lotte, Leo, Boris, Ivie-Leigh, Jack and Saharsh completing their challenges.

MMR West Midlands

MMR vaccine catch-up clinics for children - book now for Saturday

An MMR vaccine catch-up clinic is taking place this Saturday for 12 – 16-year-olds who aren’t fully vaccinated. Parents and carers are urged to book their children’s appointment.

Due to an increase in measles cases across the West Midlands, pop-up vaccination clinics have been set up in the Black Country to help ensure children aged 12 to 16 (Years 8 to 12) are up to date with their measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) jab.

Measles is a highly infectious disease which can lead to serious complications such as severe lung infections and inflammation of the brain. It also damages and suppresses the whole immune system, meaning children can be left much more susceptible to catching other illnesses.

It can spread quickly among communities, particularly schools, if children have not had two doses of the MMR vaccine.

A series of pop-up clinics offering the MMR vaccine are taking place across the Black Country for 12-to-16-year-olds who haven’t yet had two doses.

The clinics are being hosted in Brierley Hill, Wolverhampton, Walsall and Sandwell on the following dates:

Brierley Hill: • Fens Pool Community Centre, Tennyson Street, Brierley Hill, DY5 4HY, Saturday 20 January, 9am-1.30pm. To book an appointment call 01384 431712

Wolverhampton: • The Health Hub, Mander Centre, Wolverhampton, WV1 3NH, Saturday 20 January, 9am-2.30pm. To book an appointment call 01902 200077

Sandwell: • Wood Lane Community Centre, Wood Lane, West Bromwich, B709PT, Saturday 27 January, 9am-1.30pm. To book an appointment call 0121 592 1110

Walsall: • South & Central Locality Hub, Birchills Street, WS2 8NF, Saturday 27 January, 9am -1.30pm. To book an appointment call 01922 902035

The clinics will be staffed by trained healthcare professionals from the NHS and Vaccination UK who specialise in childhood vaccinations and follow all necessary safety protocols. Parents and carers who are unsure if their child is up to date with their routine vaccinations can also check this at the clinics. Children will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Parents who are unsure if their child is up to date with all their routine vaccinations can also check their child’s Red Book (personal child health record), check the NHS app, or contact their GP practice. For more information about the MMR vaccine, visit the NHS website here.

For more details on the catch-up clinics, read the press release.

Car Seat Safety

Using a child car seat or booster seat

Children must normally use a child car seat until they’re 12 years old or 135 centimetres tall, whichever comes first.

Children over 12 or more than 135cm tall must wear a seat belt.

You can choose a child car seat based on your child’s height or weight.

FINALLY ...

With only two weeks remaining of this half term, we have plenty still to cram in, so make sure your children have a relaxing weekend and come back refreshed and raring to go on Monday!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
