Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Another week has flown by and I have had the opportunity to visit classrooms this week to see great teaching and learning in action.

We are focusing on improving reading across school and it has been reassuring to see so many children enthusiastically reading books and improving their reading skills. We now ensure every child has daily independent reading time, as well as ending every day with a story time. Please ask your children what their teacher is currently reading to them!

The week ended with a class assembly from year 4. It was all about the Anglo Saxons. The assembly displayed another element of our curriculum- that of History-and showed us just how much knowledge the children gain. They shared so many facts and looked amazing in their costumes!

We will enter December next week and so it is inevitable that thoughts of Christmas will begin! Our first Christmassy events are our Christmas Movie nights planned for Wednesday and Thursday after school- see below for details and how to book your child a place.

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Rudy, Joseph and Evie-May who have celebrated his birthday this week or will be celebrating over the weekend.

We say thank you and goodbye to Mr Oakes!

We are so sad that Mr Oakes is moving on. He has been the most amazing site manager and transformed many areas of our school. He has carried out all of his duties with true diligence and dedication. He has always ensured that our building is safe and compliant!

Nothing has phased him and the children this week recognised this when they performed a very personal rendition of the Ghostbusters theme tune- singing- He ain't afraid of no jobs!

We wish him all the luck in the world. We certainly have been lucky to have him as our site manager for the last three years. His contribution to school has gone way beyond that of a site manager; he is a true professional, caring and committed individual who we will all miss very much.

Looking After Our Wellbeing

Another wonderful week has gone by, thank you to everyone who has donated glass jars, we have now got enough for our crafts, thank you so much for your support.

We have shared a story about the importance of giving which you can share with your children.

As a little challenge can you share with Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest 5 different ways that you can 'give' to someone?  Use your imagination and it won't cost a penny. The first 3 children to share this with us will have a prize.  You might want to create a poster to help you to remember. Have fun!

Just to remind you that we are always here for you, if you need help or support with anything, just pick up the phone and you can reach us via the school office (01384) 818315 or email spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk.  We are always here to listen.  If it's something we can't find the answer to we have a network of professionals and companies we can refer you to. We hope you all have a lovely weekend, look after each other. Love The Pastoral Team xxx

School Meals - Price Increase from January 2023

From January 2023, due to the increased price of lots of the food we order, school meals will be increasing to the new price of £2.50.

From January, we will be running the kitchen directly as a school and so will have more choice as to what we can offer our children. We will look to make improvements to the menu where we can, including striving to use locally sourced fresh products. Thank you to those parents who completed surveys at the last Parent's Evening citing favourite meals and suggestions for the future.

New menus for January will be out soon!

Failure to complete a consent form, may result in our call centre making contact with you to obtain it verbally. Please complete the below link to state whether you wish to consent or decline.

Can you help with our Amazon Wish List? *Updated*

At Crestwood Park we do not ask for parental contributions towards our school fund. Many schools do. However, if you would like to help us out and contribute towards some much needed resources for school, we have now created an Amazon wish list which details some of the resources we require and need! Our budgets are tight too, so if you would like to purchase any of the items from the list on our behalf and hand them into school, we would really appreciate it. This is not obligatory, just a polite request.

Cost of Living Support Hubs

As always I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Enjoy whatever plans you have and please spend a little time reading with your child because after all....

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
