Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

This week began with our first House Team Challenge of the year and ended with a fabulous Year 3 Class assembly all about the Romans. As always, in both of these events, the children rose to the occasion! More details about the House Challenge can be found within this newsletter.

Easter will soon be upon us and so it is no surprise that next week is full of Easter themed events in school. On Monday all of the children will take part in an Easter scavenger hunt. For the winning House team of the term, Tuesday will be an egg-stra special day too! Thursday sees our children being recognised and celebrated for their achievements and the final day of term- Friday- will see the children taking part in our Easter service and our Easter raffle being drawn. Details of next week's assemblies are shown in this newsletter too.

Message from Chair of Governors

Good Afternoon to all Parents and Children of Crestwood Park.

This week we have held interviews for the position of Headteacher at our school. A selection from the Board of Governors conducted the interviews, reaching a decision, which is crucial to the school going forward.

We are pleased to announce that Mrs Kennedy will be the appointed Headteacher for Crestwood Park. I'm sure you will join us as we congratulate Mrs Kennedy for her efforts and well-earned promotion from Deputy Headteacher.

Mrs Kennedy has been the Acting Headteacher since Mrs Cooper left at Christmas, and we have been made aware of the numerous positive views from staff, parents, and children in this time.

Mrs Kennedy will now continue her work to develop our school community to truly be the best we can be, and we are exceptionally pleased for her. We are equally excited to see what the future has in store.

A formal update will be sent via school life in the coming week or so, but for now, please take the opportunity (if you see her) to congratulate her and show her the support you have given to date.

Joshua Davies
Chair of Governors (on behalf of the Board of Governors)

House Prize - Tuesday 28th March

On Tuesday 28th March, we will be rewarding our winning house for this term with an Easter Picnic!

For this term the winning house is POLAR BEARS. On this day POLAR BEARS can come to school in their own clothes to celebrate their win.

You do not need to provide them with anything, just if your child is a POLAR BEAR, please send them to school in their own clothes on this day.

Thank you!

House Challenge 2023!

On Monday afternoon we hosted a House Challenge event across school. House teams worked collaboratively to create their very own 'Theme Park' out of Newspaper! It was an event that saw our older pupils supporting their younger House Team members to become really creative. Scientific and technological skills were also put to the test- with some very impressive outcomes!

Easter Service

Our Easter service will take place on Friday 31st March.

The service will last approx 30/45 mins and will take place in the school hall from 9.00am.

If you could enter the school hall from the playground and exit through the school via the school office.

We hope you can make it as our children have been working hard to learn songs to accompany the Easter story.

A message from the Pastoral Team...

Well done to Millie in Year 2 who was the first child to sign 'I love my family, and they love me'! Very imppessive Millie!

What a beautiful week it has been, Spring is in the air! Our clock's change this weekend so we begin to be able to enjoy those lighter nights. Hope you enjoyed learning a little sign language for last week's challenge!

Continuing with our keep learning theme we would like you to get out in the fresh air. Natural vitamin D is absorbed into our bodies by sunlight that's why it's called the 'sunshine vitamin'. It helps to make our bones and muscles strong and keeps our immune system healthy. It can also help to brighten your mood.

So what are you all waiting for, its time to enjoy the outdoors. We challenge you to learn the name of 3 wild birds or 3 wild flowers and describe them to us. Try to push yourself to learn the names of new birds or flowers, not ones you already know.

First children to share with Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest will receive house points and a prize. We hope you enjoy the outdoors over the weekend, you'd be amazed at what's in your back garden.

Take care and look after each other xxx

Finally...

As I sign off this week, I do so with absolute pleasure and pride at being appointed the Headteacher of Crestwood Park Primary! I have been Acting Head since January and I have so appreciated the support the children, staff and families of Crestwood Park have given me, especially when I have had to act and make decisions in response to suspected gas leaks and sudden snowfall!

I will endeavour to continue the successes of Crestwood Park so that it is a school that spreads happiness and prepares children for life beyond the classroom. A school that inspires children to aspire- to have the self-belief that they can 'Be the Best!'

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend... lots of love.. Mrs Kennedy xxx
