Welcome to our Newsletter!
It was good to see all the children back on Tuesday and in the four days of school this week, we've managed to pack lots in. The week ended with another super ABC assembly; it's always so wonderful to praise our children for their Achievement, their super Behaviour and their Commitment.
Mrs Kennedy met with a large group of parents this morning for the first Parent Voice meeting of the year (more details below). It's great to share aspects of school life that aren't always obvious as parents and carers such as policies and priorities. It's great to get your feedback too.
As mentioned in the newsletter last week, we are using a new 'SPARKS Steps' approach to rewarding the behaviour we expect to see and along with this we are focusing on the way we praise and reprimand children. We call these PIP and RIP. PIP = Praise in Public, RIP=Reprimand in Private. We are now working hard to follow this through in the way we talk to parents, so if we want to tell you some good news and praise your child at the end of the day, we will happily do so at the classroom door, in front of other parents. However, if we need to tell you that your child has struggled with their behaviour and if we have had to reprimand them, then we will wait until after the children have gone home and telephone you. This way, we are not having a potentially sensitive conversation with parents in front of others and we are giving you the opportunity to ask us to call back if the time is not convenient. If we do need to speak to you about a reprimand, we will endeavour to do this as soon as possible but please bear in mind that there are lots of other things going after school and we can't always get to the phone straight away.
If you have any questions about this, as always, please get in touch.
Happy Birthday to you..
We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Isacc, Nico, Adah, Jayden and Molly H who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be doing, over the weekend.

It is great to see so many children achieving 100% attendance. However, we do realise that there are absences that are unavoidable. We will in the future, consider the reason for an absence and use our discretion to determine whether it should affect your child being acknowledged as a 100% attendee. For example- a hospital appointment that cannot possibly be altered will not affect your child earning a reward. Thank you for your understanding with this. Whilst we are striving for 100%, we will also endeavour to acknowledge that some absences are unavoidable.
Thursday 29th September - Crestwood Park Bake Off and Macmillan Coffee Morning!
A reminder to get your little chefs ready for this year’s school ‘Bake off’ on Thursday 29th September.
If you would like to take part, cakes can be taken to your child’s class on the morning of the 29th. They will then be displayed, ready for judging! This year our judge will be Alan Millichip from the Kinver Rotary Club who have kindly donated gifts to our Year Six children for several years and they also organise the Santa Sleigh visit for our children at Christmas.
Following the Bake Off on the 29th, we will be holding our Harvest Festival Assembly on the morning of Friday 30th (9:15am) and immediately after the assembly, we will run our Macmillan Coffee morning where parents can buy cakes to take home or to eat with children in classrooms. This will run until 10:30am.
This year, we are very excited to announce that our Bake- Off theme will be 'A Cake (or cakes!) Fit for a King'!
All entries are appreciated whether they are homemade or thoughtfully brought and all money raised will be donated to Macmillian Cancer Support.
We look forward to seeing (and tasting!) your creations!
A message from the Pastoral Team...
- Take a walk and really look at your surroundings, the leaves on the trees, birds, insects, flowers.
- Enjoy your favourite meal, close your eyes and enjoy the smell, the flavours and textures of your food.
- Be creative and only think about what you are drawing or colouring.
- Why not look up at sky and watch the clouds or stars at night.
- Enjoy listening to your favourite song.

Parent Voice Meeting - 2nd December

Thank you to all those parents who attended this morning’s meeting. It was great to have representation from every year group in school!
We discussed our school priorities, forthcoming events on our school calendar and collectively decided that reading the weekly newsletter is one of the best ways of keeping up to date with what is happening in and around Crestwood Park- so if you are reading this- fantastic!
Our next meeting will be on Friday 2nd December at 9.00am. As always all parents are invited to attend.
Thanks again - Mrs Kennedy

Hello, everyone.
![]() |
We hope you’re keeping safe and well. We’re really excited to share details of a fantastic FREE event in Birmingham city centre next weekend (Fri 30 Sept and Sat 1 Oct). It’s the UKRO Festival of Rescue, which we’re hosting on behalf of the UK Rescue Organisation - and you’re invited! Hundreds of firefighters from nearly 40 UK fire and rescue services will compete across a range of challenges at the city’s Smithfield site, including rope rescue, trauma care, releasing injured people from crashed cars and searching for people in collapsed structures. Not forgetting our water rescue challenges - at The Lloyds in Ironbridge on 30 Sept and at Bartley Sailing Club, Bartley Reservoir on 1 Oct. And we’re proud to be introducing the UK Firefighter Fitness Challenge to this year’s festival, as well as a special competition for Fire Cadets. But that’s not all! There’ll also be fairground rides, discounted food and fire engines to explore, plus a community village where you can get lots of helpful tips for keeping safe and well at home. Not forgetting an appearance by the The Red Devils parachute display team on the Saturday (weather-permitting, time to be confirmed) For the latest details of the two-day festival, visit: https://for-wmfs.co.uk/ No tickets are required, you can just turn up on the day! You can also follow the festival’s Twitter feed by following @UKRO2022 We really hope you can join us! West Midlands Fire Service

And finally...
Thankyou for reading the newsletter...it is the best way to get all the information you need about what's going on in and around school. Also, the calendar on the app/website has all the dates of key events so please do look at that too.
And if you have read all of the above, then you should have spotted the 'silly word' hidden within a sentence which is back by popular request...prizes for the first children who can tell Mrs Cooper what it is on Monday morning!
Have a good weekend folks! Take care.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
