Welcome to our Newsletter
Another warm and wonderful week has flown by! Year 6 have been on their residential visit to Pioneer Centre, returning today looking pretty exhausted! That is because they have had an action-packed few days partaking in activities such as: raft building, abseiling, caving, high ropes, archery and orienteering. We are all very proud of them, not only for their resilience and determination, but also for their exemplary behaviour and conduct. It is with pride too, that we watched Reception's class assembly this morning. What a class of performers they proved to be! It was the perfect way to end our week. For other news about what has been happening this week and for news of what's ahead, please read on...

We still have 7 places available for Thursday session. Bookings can be made via the Teachers2Parents app, under the payments section.
House Challenge
On Monday this week, all houses participated in a house challenge.
This was a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) challenge where we helped out the Three Billy Goats Gruff. The goats needed a 40cm bridge to cross the river.
We produced bridges using your fantastic donations (thank you once again!) and tested them using different objects to represent the goats. Our bridges were very sturdy and we really enjoyed our afternoon, working with all the other children from our House team.

Naughty Nasty Nits

It has come to our attention that there is an outbreak of head lice in KS1. We need everyone's help to get this under control.
Treatment: Wash hair and apply a generous amount of conditioner. With a fine toothed comb, carefully comb the hair from the scalp to the end of the hair. Look at the comb after each stroke and wipe clean. If done thoroughly, this will remove all live lice as the hair is so slippery they can't cling on! This is the most effective treatment, but needs repeating on a daily basis until all eggs have vanished. Chemical treatments can be purchased over the counter but it is known that some head-lice become resistant to these and, therefore, no chemical preparation is 100% effective.
Clothes, bedding, and towels used by a person with head lice two days before treatment should be washed in hot water and dried on the hot cycle to kill any lice. Other items that cannot be washed or dry-cleaned can be placed in a sealed plastic bag for two weeks to kill any lice or nits on those items.
Please remember, there is no shame in having head-lice but it is shameful to do nothing about it!
Could you be a foster carer?
Dudley MBC are looking to recruit foster carers across the Dudley Borough.
Foster care plays a vital part in so many children’s and young people’s lives. In Dudley, the need for foster carers is greater than ever. Please see the attached leaflet regarding taking the first steps into becoming a foster carer.

Finally...
I think this week has certainly displayed some fantastic teamwork. Whether it be for an assembly, as part of a residential trip or for a whole-school House Challenge, our children always rise to the occasion. My closing message then reiterates just this.
I wish you all a weekend of togetherness as...
'Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.'
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
