Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

This week our children have once again been showing off their incredible enthusiasm for learning. I have been inundated with the number of children coming to see me for treats because they have produced such amazing work. The over and above podium has never been so full, and it is great that so many children are reaching gold on our SPARKS steps. The week ahead has some exciting events planned. Our ‘Bake- Off’ takes place on Thursday- so please get baking and bring in your creations on Thursday morning! Friday is Healthy Eating Day, but we are going to succumb to the lure of cake! Our Bake-Off entries will be available for you to purchase following our Harvest Assembly which starts at 9am on Friday- all proceeds will be donated to Macmillan cancer. Everyone is invited to come along and have some coffee and cake to support this worthwhile cause. We hope to see you there!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Isacc, Adah and Jayden who have celebrated his birthday this week.

Looking After Our Wellbeing

We have had another wonderful week in school and have been so excited to see how many of you created a kindness poster.  It has been so difficult to choose the best one. A special thanks has to go to year 5 who created the most posters, well done to Leah, Thomas and Amber, your posters were amazing!

We would like to continue spreading kindness, so your challenge this week is to make someone smile.  Share with us what you did to make someone happy this week:

Here are some ideas:
Tidy your room without being asked.
Write a thank you note to someone.
Help a friend.
Help wash the dishes.
Cheer someone up if they look sad.

Share your act of kindness with Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest, we would love to hear how you have made someone smile.

Have a lovely weekend, let's hope the sun is going to shine. Lots of love from The Pastoral Team xx

Celebrating our children's work

Year 5 have been researching 'Ancient Greece'.

They have gathered their own facts, as you can see Amber has found many great facts and has presented her work so beautifully.

Excellent work, Well Done Amber.

Student Update forms

All children have now been sent home with the contact details we hold on our system. It is important that details are reviewed regularly and that we are able to contact you in case if an emergency.

Please check the information for inaccuracies, and make any changes that are necessary and return to school by Monday 25th September.

RM Unify - Logging in at home for children

This gives your child access to various tiles – including Purple Mash, TTRS, Renaissance Place (Accelerated Reader) and more!

Some tiles (TTRS and Renaissance Place) will need another username and password inputting for your child to access the site.

Please speak to a member of staff if you need any further assistance.

POLICY CHANGE - NO EARRINGS FOR P.E OR AFTER SCHOOL SPORTING CLUBS

Please note that our policy on earrings for PE has changed. The new policy came into effect on Monday.

A newsletter was sent out notifying parents and the policy is also included below. Lots of parents have taken note of it and shown their support- thank you for this.

Earrings are no longer authorised to be worn for PE lessons. The use of tape is also not allowed. These changes have been made as a result of our concerns at the number of children wearing earrings on PE days and not being able to remove them. The use of tape was proving ineffective, and as you can read in our policy, it is not a recommended safety strategy. Our policy is in line with Dudley Local Authority, DFE and Sport England recommendations.

We are therefore asking parents to support us in ensuring that a child does not wear earrings on PE days or to ensure that a child is able to remove his/her own earrings.

We only ever make changes in the best interests of our children. We take safety measures very seriously and this change is first and foremost due to safety concerns raised. We have taken action to ensure the safety of our children remains paramount.

Subject Spotlight

Each week we will be sharing with you a subject that is taught in school and allowing you to see your child's learning journey in that subject.

This week we are sharing the learning journey for Computing.

We hope you find it informative and useful.

BAKE OFF IS BACK!

Crestwood Park's Bake Off will be back on Thursday 28th September.

5p Fridays

5p Fridays will start again- beginning Friday 22nd September.

This year, each class has decided upon a charity to support. We are really promoting social action as part of our school improvement plan, so this fits perfectly with our intention to perform acts of kindness.

Therefore, the money raised by each class through collecting 5ps will then be sent to the charity they have chosen.

Times Table Rockstars

The times tables champion of the week will be changing this year. There will be a new award with everyone working towards their own targets.

The TTRS competitions will continue, this year we'll do house competitions:

Finally...

As I sign off this week, it is with a sense of gratitude that our school once again has been full of smiling, happy children. Our attendance across school has been amazing and I know that this is in part due to the fact that our children are welcomed so positively by our staff each and every day. A big thank you to staff and families for supporting our children to embrace school life.

So, have a restful and relaxing weekend all- recharge those batteries and get ready for another exciting week ahead!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
