Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter!

It's been a bit of a rainy end to the week but that hasn't dampened our spirits as we come to the end of a very busy half term! We've packed in The Bake Off, the Macmillan Coffee Morning, Harvest, Space Day, Art day and the Exhibition, School Council Elections and today, Dress Up for Down Syndrome Day!  Achievement Assembly this afternoon was fantastic- it's always wonderful to hear all the positive comments from teachers about our amazing children. Well done to those who were presented with certificates. Well done too, to our first SPARKS award winners this year...our SMART Sparks!

It's great to be able to celebrate achievements outside school too- we always welcome certificates, badges, trophies and medals, no matter how large or small or what sport or talent has been recognised.

We have been really encouraging good attendance this half term: over the weeks, children have been treated with ice-creams and stickers, and yesterday our 100%-ers had lunch on a specially decorated table with balloons and sweet treats! Getting our children to school, on time every day is the first step in achieving well in school and is a core element of the agreement between school and families (more information below about our Home School Agreement).

Next half term starts off with the Autumn Disco (more info below) and then we have class assemblies, Remembrance Assembly, Festive Fun, the Reception and KS1 Nativity and the Carol Service (plus all the learning that needs to go on in between too!) so more exciting times ahead!

Happy Birthday to you..

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Jack and Alexander who have celebrated their birthday this week.

Happy birthday to Scarlett, Ava, Jaylen, Nichola and Esme who will be celebrating this weekend or during half term!

It is great to see so many children achieving 100% attendance. However, we do realise that there are absences that are unavoidable. We will in the future, consider the reason for an absence and use our discretion to determine whether it should affect your child being acknowledged as a 100% attendee. For example- a hospital appointment that cannot possibly be altered will not affect your child earning a reward. Thank you for your understanding with this. Whilst we are striving for 100%, we will also endeavour to acknowledge that some absences are unavoidable.

Don't Forget - Slight changes to the school day starting after half term.

The new start time will be 8:50am and the finish time will be 3:20pm; these changes will come into effect after October half term.

If you have any questions about the change or have opinions that you would like to share and discuss, please contact the school office and we can make arrangements for you to meet with a member of the leadership team.

Goodbye and Good Luck...

Today we said a sad goodbye to Miss Williams who has been a teaching assistant at Crestwood Park for seven years. During her time here, Miss Williams has supported classes and groups, she has been an integral part of the pastoral team and more recently, has supported one of our children with additional needs.

Although we are sad to see Miss Williams go, we wish her all the best for her next adventure and we hope she will be popping in to see us, from time to time.

Thankyou for everything Ellen, we all wish you the very best of luck!

A message from the Pastoral Team...

We hope you are all ok and have enjoyed looking after your wellbeing.

We have found a few free activities which are taking place locally over half term, which we thought we would like to share with you.

We would like to wish you all a lovely break, stay safe and look after each other.

Can't wait to hear your news when you come back to school, with love from The pastoral Team xx

Forest School coming to Crestwood Park

Parents in Years 1-6 should have received letters this week about Forest School. Forest School will be run by fully trained Forest School leader Jason Hardwick from Elements Forest School. We are so excited to be able to offer this incredible opportunity as part of our curriculum at Crestwood Park. This will be really beneficial to our children and will help them to build their motivation, resilience, independence and confidence.

They will participate in lots of activities that they may not have experienced before and we hope that they will really enjoy it. Forest School will take place in all weathers so there is a suggested kit to make sure children can properly enjoy themselves. This kit was detailed in the letter sent out this week- let us know if you need another copy.

If you have any wellies or waterproof trousers/ suits at home that your children have outgrown, we would welcome donations that we can pass on to other families. If you have more than one child who is participating in Forest School and you feel it would be appropriate for them to share their kit we are more than happy to pass it between classrooms, just let us know.

Forest School will begin on Wednesday 2nd November. It will take place every week for KS1 and every other week for KS2- dates are in the letter. We really do appreciate your support with this new venture and we can't wait to get started!

Dress up for Down Syndrome Day - Friday 21st October

Everyone looked great in their bright clothes today- thank you all for your generosity; we've raised an impressive £185! We will be sending off the donation to the Down's Syndrome Association on our return and we are sure the charity will be incredibly grateful. THANKYOU!

Thank you to parents who attended Parents Evening and signed our Home-School Agreement. A copy for your reference can always be found on the website here!

For these parents who were unable to attend, we will be making contact so as to obtain your signature of agreement too. As always, if you have any further questions in relation to the agreement, please don’t hesitate to ask!

School Vacancy

We have a vacancy for a lunchtime supervisor. If you are interested, or know of anyone interested, the position will be advertised on WM Jobs shortly. Please note, all applications must be received through the 'WM Jobs' online procedures.

Parent Voice Meeting - 2nd December

Meet our Governors...introducing Josh Davies

"I became a Governor as I am passionate about the learning environment for young children, giving them the best start in life. CPPS was an obvious choice given that I have 2 children now in KS1 and it's a great opportunity to help shape the future of their education.Outside of being a Governor I am a Building Control Surveyor, and I check that buildings are built correctly, whether new, extended or altered. I work mostly on commercial type buildings, and bring over my skills of interpretation/implementation of technical and legal policy, process and legislation as well as a range of communication skills. In addition to all of this, I assist with our local scout group, attend karate, and enjoy spending time with my family. You will often see me about the playground, dropping off and picking up my kids, so feel free to say hello!"

Our next meeting will be on Friday 2nd December at 9.00am. As always all parents are invited to attend.

Looking after our Community

And finally...

We hope you all have a good week next week- we know that not everyone has the luxury of being at home with their children during the holidays, so if you're still busy, we hope you get a moment with your families at some point.

We can't wait to welcome you back for the second half of the Autumn term- if you need us in the meantime, you can always contact us on 01384 818315 and leave a message or email acooper1@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk

Look after each other folks and take care.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
