Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Well again, after a cold and wet start to the week, this week has ended in sunshine! Year 2’s class assembly also lit up the morning. We were all so impressed with their singing, acting and performance of the story of The Great Fire of London. We certainly have some talented children. Looking ahead to next week, we are so looking forward to seeing a whole host of talents at our Talent Show, due to be held at the Crestwood school. Please see further on in this newsletter for more details.

Happy Birthday to you..

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Harrison and Beatrice who have celebrated their birthday this week, or will be celebrating over the weekend.

A message from the Pastoral Team...

Hello everyone, we hope you are all well and have been enjoying our 'taking notice' challenges.

A huge well done to Harrison in Yr4 for being one of the first to share his favourite song 'Sunflowers' by Post Malone and Swae Lee and well done to Daisy in Yr6 for sharing your song 'Never not going to dance again' by Pink.

Now for our next challenge...are you ready?
We all like routine and things which are familiar to us.  Well, how about changing things around a litttle and doing something different.  By doing this it helps us to 'take notice' and appreciate different things and surroundings.

CHALLENGE
What could you do differently for 5 minutes today?  Here are some suggestions to get you started...
  • De-clutter your bedroom or desk
  • Eat something different for breakfast, notice the flavours and textures.
  • Listen to a new piece of music
  • Look out of your window and notice 3 things you haven't seen before.
See if you can be the first to share how you have made a change, come and see Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest, prizes and house points for the first ideas shared.

Music Day

Celebrating our Children's work

Every week we would like to celebrate a piece of work which has been created by our children. If you child produces work at home that you would like to share, please send it in to us at info@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk

During science in Year 4 this week, children have been trying to identify how sounds are made. The children were asked, How do we hear sounds?

I think you will agree that Molly explained it perfectly. Well done.

Have you managed to walk to school this week?

Your child’s school has chosen to be part of an exciting behaviour-change initiative to encourage more children and their families to walk to school.

WOW – the walk to school challenge is delivered by Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, to help as many children as possible experience the benefits of walking to school.

The pupil-led challenge enables children to self-report how they get to school every day.

If they travel actively (walk/wheel, cycle, scoot or Park and Stride) at least once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It’s that simple!

Looking after our Community

Our Junior PCSO'S at work!

Thanks go to Mrs Brierley and her team of year 6 pupils who adopted the role of PCSO's before and after school this week.

Following a visit from the police, who brought to our attention to just how dangerously drivers were parking and speeding outside our school, we agreed to support them by introducing our very own patrols!

In return, the police will pay spot check visits to our site. Collectively, our aim is to ensure we do not have any accidents involving traffic and children outside our school.

Thank you to the parents who have noted and praised our efforts, and more importantly recognised that we take the safety of our pupils and community very seriously.

And finally...

I think most of all this week I have realised what a happy bunch we are! Thanks to the children who have let me know what song makes them happy- keep these coming! Thanks again to our Junior PCSO's for striving to keep us safe. So I think I'm going to sign off by simply wishing you all a HAPPY and SAFE weekend! xxx

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
