Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

This week has flown by and the overriding theme this week in school has been that of Music!

Music Day on Wednesday proved very successful, culminating in an amazing performance in the afternoon from pupils from Crestwood Secondary School. We were blown away by their singing and performances on a range of instruments. Our children showcased their learning from the day in this morning’s assembly. We saw a creative array of instruments made by Reception and then each year group impressed us with their knowledge of a different composer.

In the coming week, we will send out more information regarding the Talent Show- an event that lots of children seem excited for!

HSA are also planning a special disco- a flier with more details will be heading your way very soon!

I must also mention this week how impressed any visitors to our school always are. A stroke awareness workshop was held for our year 4 children on Thursday and when the visitors left, they were so full of praise, commenting on how polite and respectful the children were. It is great that we have pupils who are ambassadors of our school SPARKS values. Please thank your children again on my behalf.

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Amelia, Cody, Harrison, Beatrice, Danielle and Emma who have celebrated his birthday this week or will be celebrating over the weekend!

Welcoming Our New Site Manager

This week we welcomed Mr Simon Butler to our Crestwood Park Family. He has taken on the role of Site Manager and is particularly looking forward to helping enhance our school grounds and making our site sustainable! This week he has started to tackle those dreaded leaves- although he quickly realised that leaving a pile of leaves out on the playground would prove too tempting for our children. Let's just say some of the piles had been disturbed when he returned for his afternoon shift! He is very keen to make a difference and hasn't been put off by the ever increasing list of jobs staff find for him each day! I'm sure you will all make him very welcome and be sure to say hi when you see him in and around school.

Looking After Our Wellbeing

What a lovely week we have had, your children bring a smile to our faces each day with their stories and energy. We hope you are all ok too?

The frosty mornings have looked so beautiful but we are aware that the winter months can be a difficult time for some.  With cold temperatures and a lack of sunlight we know that sometimes our spirits need lifting.  SAD or Seasonal  Affective Disorder can create an overwhelming feeling of sadness.  Please know that you are not alone and that there are things you can do to help yourself. Try to spend at least 30 minutes outdoors, wrap up and walk when you can, the exercise is also good.  Why not meet up with a friend or family member for a coffee and a chat to brighten your day or play some of your favourite music and dance. The most important thing is to do a little of what makes you feel good and try to keep to a routine.  As always we are always here for you, if you need any help or advise please get in touch either by phone or email spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Have a lovely weekend, keep warm and take care, lots of love, The Pastoral team xxxx

They have produced some fantastic missing posters.

Beatrice has done such a great job of hers, take a look.

Starting on Monday 22nd January we are trialling a new reward system for school meals.

For every 10th school meal your child has in a term you will be credited a school meal back! Children will be given a sticker once they have hit the 'Tasty 10 Target' so you know to expect a credit on your account. So your 10th meal will be FREE!

We are continuing to look at ways to improve your child's school meal experience and have some new ideas/treats coming very soon!

MMR West Midlands

MMR vaccine catch-up clinics for children - book now for Saturday

An MMR vaccine catch-up clinic is taking place this Saturday for 12 – 16-year-olds who aren’t fully vaccinated. Parents and carers are urged to book their children’s appointment.

Due to an increase in measles cases across the West Midlands, pop-up vaccination clinics have been set up in the Black Country to help ensure children aged 12 to 16 (Years 8 to 12) are up to date with their measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) jab.

Measles is a highly infectious disease which can lead to serious complications such as severe lung infections and inflammation of the brain. It also damages and suppresses the whole immune system, meaning children can be left much more susceptible to catching other illnesses.

It can spread quickly among communities, particularly schools, if children have not had two doses of the MMR vaccine.

A series of pop-up clinics offering the MMR vaccine are taking place across the Black Country for 12-to-16-year-olds who haven’t yet had two doses.

The clinics are being hosted in Brierley Hill, Wolverhampton, Walsall and Sandwell on the following dates:

Brierley Hill: • Fens Pool Community Centre, Tennyson Street, Brierley Hill, DY5 4HY, Saturday 20 January, 9am-1.30pm. To book an appointment call 01384 431712

Wolverhampton: • The Health Hub, Mander Centre, Wolverhampton, WV1 3NH, Saturday 20 January, 9am-2.30pm. To book an appointment call 01902 200077

Sandwell: • Wood Lane Community Centre, Wood Lane, West Bromwich, B709PT, Saturday 27 January, 9am-1.30pm. To book an appointment call 0121 592 1110

Walsall: • South & Central Locality Hub, Birchills Street, WS2 8NF, Saturday 27 January, 9am -1.30pm. To book an appointment call 01922 902035

The clinics will be staffed by trained healthcare professionals from the NHS and Vaccination UK who specialise in childhood vaccinations and follow all necessary safety protocols. Parents and carers who are unsure if their child is up to date with their routine vaccinations can also check this at the clinics. Children will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Parents who are unsure if their child is up to date with all their routine vaccinations can also check their child’s Red Book (personal child health record), check the NHS app, or contact their GP practice. For more information about the MMR vaccine, visit the NHS website here.

For more details on the catch-up clinics, read the press release.

FINALLY ...

After a very chilly week, I hope you all manage to stay warm this weekend and enjoy whatever plans you have!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
