Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

The sun has shone all week and we have been proud of how well the children have coped in the soaring temperatures. Such lovely weather looks set to continue so please ensure your child has a water bottle with them and has had sun cream applied before school.

Across school this week, lots of the children have been busy with Design and Technology projects, year 1 have performed amazingly in their Phonics Screening Check, year 3 have had a visit to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara and year 4 have completed the Multiplication Check. Not only have we had sports after-school clubs taking place, but cooking and gardening ones too! This displays perfectly the range of academic and personal development opportunities on offer for the children at Crestwood Park. The week then ended with our Father Figure assembly and how well this was attended- thank you to our families for such amazing support- we hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Miley, Amber, Tiana, Zach, Archie, Darcie and Violet-Rose who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be celebrating over the weekend.

Congratulations!

Hopefully all parents have now read the letter sent out via a newsletter earlier this week announcing the fantastic news that Mrs Cadman and Ms Bullas will be permanently taking on the roles of Deputy Headteachers at Crestwood Park.

In addition to this, Miss Johnson's role will be that of Assistant Headteacher from September. All three of these members of staff are excited to be assuming such roles and I know that they will carry out their responsibilities with enthusiasm, professionalism and passion.

We all feel extremely privileged and lucky to have them as part of our team!  Therefore our Senior Leadership team is officially complete.

We thank you all in advance for supporting us in our aim to lead Crestwood Park with effectiveness and efficiency.

Further news about staffing for September will appear in next week's newsletter, so watch this space!

Looking after our wellbeing

Well, the sun has continued to shine and it really feels like summer has arrived, we hope you have all had a lovely week.

A huge well done to Millie in Yr 2 who shared how to keep herself safe at the beach and in water. Thank you also to all of the children who are taking part in our challenges, you are amazing.

This week we thought we would share something with you.

When looking after our wellbeing it is so important to recognise our feelings.  We don't always feel happy and that is normal but there are some things you can do to help yourself.  If you take steps to help yourself you will feel better so much quicker and be able to return back to your happy self.  So, have a look at the strategies and see which ones would help you.

Have a lovely weekend and keep safe.  Lot of love from the Pastoral Team xxx

Water Safety Advice

From the Child Accident Prevention Trust:

As it was Child Safety Week – last week,  there are many fact sheets that are available on Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) website.

The attached fact sheet ‘Watch out in Water’ gives some simple tips to prevent drowning for babies and small children as well as older children.

  • Make sure someone is in charge if children are aroundThe video’s created as part of the ‘Who’s in Charge Campaign’ by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust highlight the importance of identifying a ‘nominated parent’ (someone who will focus on supervising/watching the children to prevent any avoidable accidents or events.)

Remember:

  • Drowning is preventable. Even one drowning is one too many.

  • Drowning happens silently.

  • Drowning can happen in just a few centimetres of water.

Finally...

My closing message this week is a repeat of what was said to close our Father Figure assembly this morning...

'Happy Father's Day' to all of our heroes- we hope you all have a great day on Sunday!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
