Welcome to our Newsletter
This week has been all about supporting special causes…
On Monday we launched Anti Bullying Week and the children have completed several activities in class and as a whole school in support of this.
On Thursday we helped to spread awareness for World Diabetes Day by making donations and wearing something blue.
Today has been all about Children in Need and the children looked great in their PJ’s and themed clothing!
A big thank you to families for showing your support. I am aware that we have asked for two donations in one week, but we do really feel that ‘giving’ to such charities is so important and worthwhile.
Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Noah, Eleanor, Lilly Mai, Joshua, Jasmine, Serena, Abrish who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be over the weekend.

Bikeability in Year 6
This week, the Road Safety Team from Dudley have been in to deliver Bikeability Level 2 training to Year 6.
They started off on the playground, revisiting Level 1 and then they made their way out onto the roads to learn how to ride safely.
The children were taught the different positions on the road and various maneuvers including a U-turn and a left hand turn from a side street.
The team were really impressed with the children.
Well done Year 6.

Anti-Bullying Week

We ended today with a whole school get-to-gether in the hall, led by the Year 6 Anti-bullying ambassadors.
Every child wrote positive messages or smiley faces to put on someone else’s back.
It was lovely for the children to read their positive messages.
What a lovely way to end the week!

Writing Challenge
During my assembly this week, I read the book 'There is no dragon in this story.' The children enjoyed hearing how the dragon went on to become a hero after feeling left out.
So my next writing challenge is to write about a dragon!
Years 2-6 can write this in their Writing Journal.
I will look forward to hearing these fabulous stories once they are done!
Challenge to use the most exciting vocabulary.

Winter HAF Activities

Message from Dudley Building Society...
My name is Carol Davies the branch manager of Dudley Building Society Brierley Hill branch. We would love the opportunity to be featured in your School newsletter regarding Children’s Savings accounts. We have our resident savings professional, Sebastian the Squirrel, on hand to assist. Sebastian is here to help teach young people about the value of saving in the same way that squirrels would save acorns for the winter. Our aim is to encourage good savings habits and help build the confidence of our young people in dealing with financial matters.
Our My Squirrel Saver product encourages regular saving behaviours, as young people can receive a shiny new badge if they save for a certain number of months. We hope that these rewards, along with the activity packs, will help young people save for their futures and understand the importance of saving. if you are a parent looking to open your child’s first savings account, we are passionate about helping you to create good savings habits. Each account holder receives a story book for under 4’s, KS1 and KS2 receive an activity pack through fun and games to help them understand the importance of saving by demonstrating and exploring it to them through role-play . Additional to this every child has a passbook, acorn stamp book, save for 3 months receive a Bronze acorn badge, 6 months to receive a Silver acorn badge, 12 months to receive a Gold acorn badge.

Finally...
During the week, we have had chance to reflect on others in need and how to be kind - one of our school SPARKS.
Let's embrace kindness this weekend and reach out to those around us.
“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up."
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
