Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Wow!

What a way to end this week with an amazing Art Day!

A special thank you to Miss Pryke who planned the day and ensured that all classes had the resources and ideas needed for every child to create a piece of artwork inspired by Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.

In addition to this, the children all had the opportunity to visit the hall today to create nature portraits, marble paintings and a cool crayon creation!

The day ended with an Art Exhibition in the hall- photos of which appear later in this newsletter. Thanks to all the family members who attended. I’m sure you’ll agree we have some very creative children at Crestwood Park!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Harry, Lainey, Cailen, Brogan, Xavier, Declan and Kaloyan who have celebrated his birthday this week.

It appears there is some confusion on start times and lateness so, I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify below, this is taken from our Attendance Policy... the full policy can be found on our school website - our school- policies and procedures.

Lateness

At Crestwood Park we expect children to arrive at school between 8.40 and 8:50am. By 8:50am all children should be in their classes and the classroom doors will be closed. If Children arrive between 8.50 and 9.00am they will be let in through the classroom doors, after this they will need to go through the main office.

If children arrive between 8:50 and 9:10am they will be marked as 'L' on the register for authorised lateness. If they arrive late after 9:10am, they will be marked as a ‘U’ for unauthorised late.

Late children will also have to catch up and complete the morning registration task at the start of lunchtime. If a child reaches 5 'Lates' during a school year, we will not authorise any more and further lateness will be classed as unauthorised absence for a whole morning. At this point, parents will be contacted, in order to discuss actions/support needed to resolve lateness.

As always contact ajohnson1@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk if you have any questions.

Art Day

Looking After Our Wellbeing

We hope you are all ok?  This week has gone so quickly, we have experienced so many lovely things in school but this week we would particularly like to share with you our visit to Debdale Riding stables.

Our children were shown how to groom and care for the horses.  They all got stuck in and enjoyed their experience so much, one child told us 'this is the best day of my life!' Crestwood Park children really like to have fun and take on new challenges, they were truly amazing and did us proud.

The riding school have invited us to go back, so we hope to take another group of children in the spring term.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend, look after each other, lots of love The Pastoral team xxx

Celebrating our children's work

Here are three examples of Year 2's fabulous interpretation of Van Gogh's work.

Reading with...

Thank you to those families who have sent photographs in of their child reading.

This week in assembly, we read The Detective Dog by Julia Donaldson.  I set the children a challenge to read to their dogs at home - or any other pet or favourite teddy.

Take a look at our Reading Gallery to see all the fabulous photos!
Keep sending them in and your child will receive a raffle ticket for our book token draw!

5p Fridays

Thank you to all the pupils who are remembering and contributing to our 5p Fridays.

This year, each class has decided upon a charity to support. We are really promoting social action as part of our school improvement plan, so this fits perfectly with our intention to perform acts of kindness.

Therefore, the money raised by each class through collecting 5ps will then be sent to the charity they have chosen.

Times Table Rockstars - Competition Update

There are two weeks to go with our competition. Everyone is still in with a chance of winning the extra playtime so get practising.

Finally...

All the children and the staff have had such a great end to this week and absolutely immersed themselves in Art Day.

As I sign off, I think everyone at school will certainly agree with the quote-

“There is no greater joy in life than the joy of creating something.”

So..go be creative this weekend everyone! xxx

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
