Welcome to our Newsletter
The children have now completed their first full week back in school and seem to be adjusting back into the rules and routines well. Staff have been able to award lots of smart points this week. This is when they notice pupils adhering to our uniform policy and looking and acting extra smart! If your child receives 10 of these points this half term, they will earn their SPARKS badge!
Our Reception children have coped especially well with the transition to school. I have visited them lots throughout the week. Popular activities at the moment appear to be: ‘Dough Disco’, dressing up and exploring their outside garden!
After school clubs will start soon. Letters have been sent out via the newsletter section of the sch.life app and all of the clubs can be booked using your Tecahers2Parents app.
Thank you to the parents who were able to attend our welcome meetings this week. If you couldn’t make them- not to worry- there is a link below that will take you to the information you will need for each class. As always, if you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact school or speak to staff on the classroom doors.
Happy Birthday to you...
Sending Birthday wishes to Elsie-May, Isacc and Adah who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be over the weekend.

Crestwood Park does 'Bake Off' - 26th September
On Thursday, 26th September Crestwood Park will be holding its annual ‘Bake Off’.
It will be for children and parents to enter together and you can enter any shop brought cake or bake you wish: buns, muffins, sponges or scones whatever takes your fancy!
During the day our school cooks, will be judging the entries and there will be several cooking related prizes which will be announced during the Harvest assembly on Friday.
This year we have decided the theme will be Princesses and/or Superhero's.
So get those baking tins brushed up and get practising for those ‘Show Stoppers’ or ‘Signature Bakes’ that you all have in you and… BAKE!
Following on from our 'Bake Off', on Friday 27th during our Harvest Assembly that you are all invited too we will be selling the cakes as part of our Macmillan Coffee Morning. So please do come along and bring nans, grandads, aunts and uncles to enjoy our Harvest assembly and Macmillan Coffee Morning.
Mrs Cadman's English News.
Well done to Millie who completed the Library Reading Challenge in the holidays. I know lots of children took part in this initiative - which is fantastic. We want to keep our libraries going as they are such a valuable tool. Please let me know if you completed the library challenge during the holidays and would like your photo to appear on our newsletter!
It was lovely to receive a photo of Mia choosing a book at the weekend with the voucher she won from my summer competition. Well done Mia - keep up the fantastic reading.
Finally, I always encourage children to recommend books to each other. So it was lovely when Eve came to me this week, to recommend a book that she thought I would like! Thank you Eve, I'll look forward to reading it.
Keep reading - it really does take you to different places......
Today we have celebrated Roald Dahl and some of his wonderful stories. There has been Yoga with the Twits, Dream Jars from The BFG and disgusting beards! Ask your child to tell you all about the fun they have had today!
Caelan and Kara brought me some books to look at from their Roald Dahl collection. Thank you for sharing these.
I would also like to say a HUGE thank you to Fearne in Year 4 - Fearne has lent me her Roald Dahl treasury, which has a collection of Roald Dahl stories in. Here's an extract from one of my favourites - Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf from Revolting Rhymes:
As soon as Wolf began to feel
That he would like a decent meal,
He went and knocked on Grandma's door.
When Grandma opened it, she saw
The sharp white teeth, the horrid grin,
And Wolfie said, "May I come in?"
Poor Grandmamma was terrified,
"He's going to eat me up!" she cried.
And she was absolutely right.
He ate her up in one big bite.
But Grandmamma was small and tough,
And Wolfie wailed, "That's not enough!
I haven't yet begun to feel
That I have had a decent meal!"
He ran around the kitchen yelping,
"I've got to have a second helping!"
Then added with a frightful leer,
"I'm therefore going to wait right here
Till Little Miss Red Riding Hood
Comes home from walking in the wood."
Cashpot for schools
Parentkind – the charity that supports school PTAs - have teamed up with Asda, who is making millions of pounds available to donate to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative – all you have to do is, opt in through the Asda Rewards app, choose our primary school and shop and scan in store or shop online at Asda.com, between 2nd September and 30th November 2024
Asda will donate 0.5% of the value of your shop to our Primary school. Also, every time somebody opts in, Asda will give an additional £1 to the school Cashpot. Plus, it doesn’t stop there – Asda are also giving £50 to every school to get them started.
The supermarket has joined forces with Joe Wicks to support the initiative – look out for the TV advert, radio ads and social media coverage
Plea for teddy bears!
The Teddy Trust is a small Herefordshire-based charity, run entirely by volunteers, that reaches out to help children across the world who have experienced war, are living in extreme poverty or have suffered abuse.
If you have any teddy bears that would like a new home, we are collecting them in the school office on behalf of The Teddy Trust up until October half term.
Finally...
Wishing you all a magical weekend, and this week I’ll sign off with a Roald Dahl quote- in honour of Roald Dahl day …
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
