Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Another Friday has rolled around and this week has been one full of assessments for our year 6 children. You will see from items appearing in this week's newsletter that our year 6 children have done us proud in so many ways- if the SAT's results reflected attendance and attitude all of our children would score 100%! Elsewhere in school, our classes continue to amaze me with their commitment. Whether it is in saving all those 5p's on a Friday or exploring our local area, they always immerse themselves fully into every challenge or experience. This week in school I have seen amazing art work, great map reading, super sports skills and music making. The term continues to offer chances for us to also support charities and make a difference to our community. Monday sees our children completing the Duchenne Dash- read on for more details...

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Max and Harvey who have celebrated their birthday this week.

WOW! AMAZING ATTENDANCE!

Well done to our Year 6's!

You have won the attendance award this week with 100%

Well done for making it in every day for your SAT's- perhaps we should have them every week!

Go Bright for DMUK! - Monday 15th May

Join us on Monday 15th May to dress up in your brightest clothes in exchange for £1 donation to raise awareness and vital funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK!

On the day we will be hosting a 'Duchenne Dash' around the mile track.

Please ensure that children wear appropriate footwear to be able to take part!

Have your sunflowers spouted yet? If they have it would be great to see them! Send us your progress pictures to info@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk!

Before the end of term, we will then ask children to show us the progress they have made and prizes will be awarded for our budding gardeners.

Looking after our wellbeing

We hope you enjoyed the extended weekend.  Whatever the weather you can still keep active, there are so many fun things to do.

Well done to Mya from yr2 who learnt how to do the sandwich pose on Cosmic kids yoga, keep enjoying being active.

Also, we would like to congratulate Lola from Yr 5 who kept active with a difference at Cannon Raceway. She completed a lap in 24.071 seconds which was the highest score for her group and came 3rd on the leader board for that day.

Thomas from Yr 4 also brought in his medal for completing 25 miles on his bike.  A massive well done to you all, we're so proud of you.

Dancing is a great way to keep active. Dancing raises your heart rate and releases chemicals into the brain which work to reduce cortisol.  This helps to make your body strong and also reduces anxiety.

So, are you ready for this week's challenge:   Following on from your dances through the decades last week, we would like you to dance like you've never danced before!  To build on some moves you have already learnt we have included a you tube clip for some extra moves.  It would be amazing if any of you are brave enough to share your dance in assembly. Why not join a few friends or family and learn together.

Share your favourite dance song with Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest, the first children will receive a prize and house points.

Dance your way through the weekend, have fun!

Year 6 SATS

Well done to all of our Year 6's who completed their SATS this week!

We know that for children it can be a stressful time, but you all took it in your stride, came into school every day and tried your very best. We are so very proud of you!

Here they are enjoying a special lunchtime treat and thanks go to our wonderful kitchen team- Mandy, Pat and Deb- for preparing a wonderful breakfast for the children to enjoy each morning before their SAT's.

Celebrating Our Children's Work

Year 5 have been looking at Coal Mining for their Local Study.

They have looked closely at the working conditions and what kind of job it was.

Elliot has written a detailed account of the Coal Mining Industry.

Well Done Elliot, really fantastic work.

5p Fridays

5p Friday's are proving very successful! Every class is now well on the way to saving enough for their planned prize.

We will continue to ask for each child to bring in a 5 pence piece on a Friday. The children will take charge of counting the money and calculating how much more they need to reach their goal.

The  challenge is to raise enough in order to be able to pay for their chosen reward. Please ask your children what their class are saving towards!

This will be a fantastic opportunity for each class to know the importance of budgeting, saving and spending!

There is no obligation for you to contribute, but it would be greatly appreciated!

TTS Rockstars

Well done to Year 3's Isaac , who answered over 1 600 questions correctly this week. What an amazing achievement Isaac, well done!

Can you beat that score to be next week's champion?

Competition update: (correct answers)
year 4: 28 751
Year 3: 14 124
Year 6: 10 310
Year 5: 09 547

A message from your HSA

End of Term Sweet Stall - Friday 26th July

As before, we will be holding an End of Term Sweet Stall on Friday 26th May to reward all of your hard work this term!

Prices will range from 10p - £1.00.

Finally...

As I sign off this week, my message is a personal favourite of mine and one that our year 6 children displayed and realised this week...

" Stay Positive. Work Hard. Make it Happen!"

Hope you all have a well earned break this weekend- see you on Monday!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
