Welcome to our Newsletter

The first week back after the Easter break has flown. The children have not let the wet weather dampen their spirits and it has been great to see lots of smiles from them all when I have visited classrooms. All children have started to think about their Local Area- I have seen lots of map work taking place this week! The children’s developing knowledge of the local area will be showcased in our Local Area Study Exhibition due to take place later this term. Keep an eye on our school calendar for the date of this and lots of other events taking place this term.

As always, this newsletter is full of important information and items worth celebrating. Enjoy reading on!

BE A KIND SPARK!

This term we are focusing on being KIND and we would like to give the chance for more than just two children to earn a KIND SPARKS badge.

All children will be given an acts of kindness card.

It lists 6 acts of kindness that they can complete during this half term. The act of kindness must be proven with a signature from an adult.

We are also encouraging the children to send in any photos for the newsletter.

Any child who completes all 6 acts and has them signed will earn a Kind Sparks Badge, which will be awarded in the Achiever's Assembly at the end of term.

Looking After Our Wellbeing

We are so excited to share that one of our parents Natalie Turner of NFP has donated toiletry gifts to our school as a way of giving back to the community.  Thank you so much for choosing us, how thoughtful.

We would love to show our love and appreciation to you all and as we are spreading kindness this term we would like to share these wonderful gifts.  You all deserve a special little treat every now and then.  Every Friday, each child will be put into a free prize draw and your child may be fortunate enough to take home a  'pamper goodie bag'.

We are looking forward to our first prize draw next week, keep everything crossed xxx
We hope you all enjoyed the Easter break, it's been so lovely hearing everyone's news.

Through observations, assessments and conversations with staff and yourselves we have identified children who with either begin or continue with pastoral support.  You should by now have received a letter informing you, please check your childs' bag. Thank you to those of you who have already returned the permission slip.

Should you have any questions or feel your child would benefit from support, please contact Sue Priest on (01384) 818315 or email spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead and will hopefully be able to enjoy the outdoors a little more.

BABY BOOM AT CRESTWOOD PARK!

Last term, we were delighted to announce that Ms Bullas was expecting a baby and that Mr Powell and his wife had welcomed a baby boy- Oliver- on the 16th March.

Well, we now have even more exciting baby news to share!

Miss Johnson is expecting her second child in September and Mrs Jeavons is expecting her second child in early October. I’m sure you will join us in wishing them both a happy and healthy pregnancy.

We can’t wait to welcome all of the new arrivals to our Crestwood Park Family!

We will give an update on our plans and how the posts will be covered whilst these staff are on maternity leave, later this term.

Celebrating Our Children's Work

This week, Reception have been learning all about Ramadan and Eid. They have really enjoyed this and have learnt lots of new things.

On Thursday Mrs Akthar showed them some pictures and videos of her Eid celebrations with her family. She brought in some special clothes to show them.

They then made a special Eid recipe using pastry, jam and strawberries.

              - KS2 Table/Tennis Club

Pupil Librarians

This week, six Key Stage 2 pupils have been named as our Pupil Librarians.

Before Easter, lots of children applied to become a librarian, and the Year 6 Reading Ambassadors had the very difficult decision of choosing just 6!

Their role will include: keeping the library areas organised; suggesting books for different year groups and taking recommendations from their peers.

Well done - Lillie, Annalise, Mercy, Leila-Rae, Eve and Chloe.

Amazon Wish List

We are really grateful for any donation we receive and the little things really do go a long way!

Water Bottles

Please can children refrain from bringing in oversized bottles/containers into school.  A bottle of with a capacity of 500ml is ideal.

The 'Stanley Cups' in particular are not acceptable in school due to their size and function. They are too big when placed on tables and when knocked over either leak or become damaged.  I believe they are also rather an expensive item to be bringing into school.

Thank you for your support with this matter.

Finally...

It was nice to see the sun shining today after what has been rather a wet return to school!

Here's hoping you all have a lovely weekend and the sun continues to shine.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
