Welcome to our Newsletter!
Our children led a moving Remembrance Service today. It was not the usual 'raise the roof' Crestwood Park style 'performance', but instead a quiet and reflective moment. Well done to all our children, but particularly those who were selected, or who chose to take a key role in the proceedings.
We've got plenty of information in today's newsletter - we always try to include information about what your children have been up to in the week, but also to include information that would benefit our local community. If you know of someone who would enjoy reading the newsletter or who might benefit from some of the community articles (for example the winter warmth grants mentioned further below), then please forward the newsletter or show them how they find our website and access the newsletters that way.
The rest of this term will continue to be very busy! Year 4 have their class assembly next Friday which we are looking forward to. Please keep on top of all events by regularly visiting our calendar on the app or website, or by looking at the year's overview in one of our two external display boards.
School Council's decision for Children in Need Day!
Miss Obertelli and the School Council have discussed what children could do in support of Children in Need Day on November 18th and they have chosen to go with 'come to school in your PJs'! Of course this is not obligatory - if children prefer not to, they can come in their usual school uniform or clothes of their own choice. Also, we would welcome any donations children and families make to the Children in Need cause, but again, this is personal choice.
To support the charity further, we have a small range of 'Children in Need' gifts and will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win one of these, from Monday 14th. We have Pudsey bear teddies, ear headbands, pens, drinks bottles and wrist bands.
Any queries, please ask.

Happy Birthday to you..
We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Lilly Mai, Joshua and Jasmine who have celebrated their birthday this week, or will be celebrating over the weekend.

A message from the Pastoral Team...

Anti-Bullying Week next week...

Next week is anti-bullying week and Miss Pryke and the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors have been busy preparing some activities for all children to take part in. On Monday we are inviting children to come to school in odd socks. Also on Monday our whole school assembly will focus on the theme 'reaching out'. There are other activities planned for classes throughout the week and we look forward to hearing what children have learnt as a result.
Year 6 Bikeability

As some of you are aware our Years 4 & 6 children took part in Bikeability this week. We would like to thank our parents for bringing bikes and helmets into school as we know mornings can be hectic enough!
As always our children were fantastic and have enjoyed taking part in the sessions. We hope they will share their new road safety knowledge with you and will put it into practice during their next bike ride!
Celebrating our Children's work
Every week we would like to celebrate a piece of work which has been created by our children. If you child produces work at home that you would like to share, please send it in to us at info@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk

Thankyou to Will at The Tree Doctors!

A HUGE thankyou to The Tree Doctors who kindly donated all the seating for our children to use during their forest school sessions. We were incredibly grateful for this donation as many tree surgeons are charging for wood nowadays. We are always really grateful to local businesses who can help us out and make our school experiences even better for our children.

Winter HAF Programme
Families will be able to book activities from the 1st of December, all activities will take place within the winter holiday period.
There are a wide range of activities on offer, from Santa hunts at the Black Country Living Museum to festive yoga and winter wonderlands! All activities have food provided and are completely free.
If your child is in receipt of income based free school meals you will be able to access this provision, however you will need to register.
Feedback from the summer programme was overwhelmingly positive, children shared their experiences of learning new skills and making new friends. Parents also told us how it relieved the pressure that the holidays can bring.
To register please follow this link https://holidayactivitiesindudley.com/login/
If you have any families that didn’t manage to register or families that are struggling with the booking system please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team by email at info@dudleycvs.org.uk
Warmest Regards,
Higgs & Sons
Higgs LLP has been part of the Black Country community since 1875 and remains committed to contributing to the area. We have recently been focussing our efforts on the environment and sustainability initiatives; Green Champion Zahra Farooq said “as ever, Higgs’ employees were quick to volunteer their time when asked if they could assist with a a gardening project at Crestwood Park Primary School.
We had a great turnout from the firm’s Property team with Rhiannon Bartlett, Emily watt,Anthony Westwood, james adams, Zahra Farooq and Hatice Yigitbas joining the school caretaker Pete in tidying a heavily weeded area. We hope to return in the new year to further improve the childrens’ learning environment- wellies at the ready”.
Trainee Solicitor said “it’s great the firm supports staff in their community efforts and I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time outdoors with colleagues and the school staff- it’s great for our mental health, the school and of course the children!” .
Principal Associate James Adams hopes “this is the start of a long term relationship between the school and Higgs LLP”.
We hope to see you soon!

Message from Dudley MBC
This winter the pressures on residents across our borough are the toughest that they have ever faced. all residents of the Dudley Borough. Referrals can be made by calling 01384 817086 or emailing winterwarmth@dudley.gov.uk with the residents contact details. To keep it quick and simple we do not need lots of details and we have no referral form – however if there is information that you think may be useful to us please let us know, especially if the home gas or electric supply is off.
The rising cost of energy is making it so hard for people to keep their homes warm, lit and safe. Cost of living increases from all sides, food shopping to mortgages and rent, childcare costs to essentials like winter clothing and petrol are mounting up. We are here to support- We may be able to give residents an emergency top up voucher, usually sent by text message, which they can use to top up the energy on their pre-payment meter accounts if they are struggling to afford to top up or off supply.
- We may be able to give shopping vouchers, to ease pressure on other costs allowing some payment to be made towards monthly payment accounts.
- We give low cost heated throws to help residents to stay warm when they are not able to use their main heating systems.
- We can provide temporary heaters in the event of a system breakdown and possibly assist with repairs or replacements.
- We can contact suppliers and discuss payment plans, debt resolutions and make applications to charity trusts to attempt to clear debts. We also refer on for specialised debt support in the borough.
- We can help residents to improve their homes via funding and grants to help them hold on to the heat that they pay for and reduce energy waste and carbon emissions.
