Welcome to our Newsletter
Well, it has been hot, hot, hot this week! Everyone in school has coped remarkably well with the soaring temperatures, non-more so that the Key Stage 2 children, who, along with some real year 6 star characters, have performed their production of : ‘We’re Going on a Summer Holiday’ brilliantly! Our evening and afternoon shows saw some amazing flamboyant and hilarious scenes that were so enjoyed by our audiences. Thank you to everyone who took part, to everyone who came along to watch and to all staff who helped put this wonderful show together.
Our newsletter this week celebrates our Get Together Event from last Friday and the Year 6 Enterprise venture. Both saw us as a school raise some impressive totals of money. Proceeds of such events will support our our own school new play space and charities close to our heart. Thanks as always to our families for supporting these events so that they can be so successful.
Year 6 also received their SAT's results this week. We are so proud of them and of the results they achieved. See below for how we compare to other schools...
Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Ella, Isla, Maddie, Haidar and Oceanna who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be over the weekend.

Year 6 Enterprise
On Monday, Year 6 ran their Enterprise stalls! We had The Rivals on the field with a football game, The Sponge Bobs, with a basketball themed game, in which some team members got soaked! The Challengers, with Go Big or Go Home - a game made up of different challenges. The Seven Little Ducklings, with Hook-a-Duck and The Tombola Dazzlers, with a tombola themed stall and a name the teddy game. Year 6 have worked really hard in the lead up to this, they have worked in teams to plan, prepare, budget, design, advertise and finally Monday, they worked amazingly well to raise £538. What an achievement. The money raised will be split 3 ways to the following charities: MDUK, Ups and Downs and Diabetes UK - all charities close to the Year 6 team.
Thank you to parents/carers for sending money in with their child - we are really grateful to you for your support in making Enterprise a success!

We're All Going on a Summer Holiday!
This week, Year 6 have performed their end of term play - We're All Going on a Summer Holiday. They were supported by Year 3,4 and 5 with the songs and boy did they put on a show!
The Summers family visited Poplins Holiday Camp - where trying new things was on top of the to-do list. We had catchy songs, fantastic dancing, great acting and a whole host of laughs.
Well done to all the children involved, particularly the Year 6 children who have worked very hard to learn all their lines.
Thank you to all the parents who have supported with costumes and to those families who came to watch the performances.

Get Together Picnic

Afterschool clubs.
There are no After School Clubs next week.
Thank you to the staff who run these clubs, to the children who attend and to the parents/carers who support.
Forest School
Forest School Calendar and Kit List
Only 1 Forest School session left - this is for Years 2,4 and 6.
Please pay close attention to the required items. Even when it is hot, children still need to have long sleeves and trousers.
Our Forest School Practitioner, Mr Barnett, carries out a risk assessment before every session - this includes risk assessing the weather conditions.
These sessions are part of the school day, so please assume that each session will take place. If for any reason we need to cancel the session, due to weather or staffing for example, we will inform you via sch life.
The appropriate clothing needed for these sessions needs to be long - long bottoms and long t-shirts, to cover skin - to avoid cuts, bites and grazes. In the heat these can be lightweight items.
With the recent heatwave, one of the coolest places in school, is the shaded forest area.

PC Tonks came to visit this week. He spoke to the children in assembly about how the police help keep the community safe.
He then went to visit Year 1.
The children listened carefully and asked some fantastic questions. Miss Clarke ended up in handcuffs and a few children nearly ended up going home in the police van!
Thank you to PC Tonks for visiting our school.

Stay SAFE in the heat.
Please remember to send a water bottle and a cap into school for your child during these hot sunny days.
Please apply sun cream before they come to school.
We will always remind children to find shady places when outside and we will make alternative arrangements for break, lunch and blast time, when the heat is too much.

Mrs Cadman's News!
As we are fast approaching the summer holidays, please can you check at home for any books belonging to school. They will have a Crestwood Park stamp on the inside and a white label on the back cover/inside back cover. Please return these books to school, so that I can do a stock take of our library and buy some new books ready for September.
Please continue to read as a family over the holidays. There is research to show that children will be more engaged with reading, if they see their parents/family members reading. Our local libraries are open over the summer and they put on special events, so keep a look out in next week's newsletter for more information.

A message from Mr Powell

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
