Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

It’s been a short but sunny week! On Wednesday, Reception made the most of the lovely weather on their trip to Little Owl Farm Park- see banner photo! The children enjoyed themselves right from the minute they got on the coach!

All the children are well into the throes of their Local Area Study now and year 2 took a trip down memory lane-literally this week- when they walked along Bromley Lane to identify key buildings and landmarks that have significance in the history of our area.

Year 6 continue to work hard towards their SAT’s, which will take place in school next week. They have won the attendance trophy for the last 3 weeks- proving their commitment to school at such an important time in their education. We wish them luck for next week and will welcome them early on Monday to Thursday mornings for breakfast- arrival from 8.15am please year 6!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Hassan and Max who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be celebrating over the weekend!

Wishing you a lovely weekend, look after each other, lots of love The Pastoral Team xxx

BE A KIND SPARK!

Our kind acts continue and in addition to the photos below showing wonderful acts of kindness, we must also mention William from year 2 who actually used his own pocket money on a family day out to buy a homeless man some food. How kind, thoughtful and generous.

We have a couple more weeks left for children to complete their acts of kindness card to receive a kind sparks badge. Keep the photos coming- we love to receive them!

Celebrating Our Children's Work

In year 3 we have started to look at the book 'The Velveteen Rabbit'

Heidi has written a lovely character description and has really tried hard with her kinetic letters and finger spaces.

We are very proud of you Heidi.

IS YOUR CHILD ASTHMATIC? IMPROTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ!

It looks like summer is on the way and for some of our children this becomes a problematic time due to pollen and humidity.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDS SCHOOL INHALER IS IN DATE

Most of our children are taking part in some form of offsite visit therefore, your child must have an inhaler in date and in school.  Please also notify us of any change in medication or contact details.  Thank you so much for your continued support, together we can give your child the best possible care.

Raising Awareness

This week was Cleft lip and palate awareness week. Here is a photo of Brianna of year 2 and JJ of Poppyfields helping spread awareness for their little sister Ayana who was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate last year.

Well done!

Community Fundraising

On Saturday Eve, Adah, Jack, Elsie, Jacob and Tyler (and Year 1s very own Elliot) did a sponsored walk and camp with 2nd Kingswinford Scouts.

"2k Scouts, Cubs and Beavers did a fantastic job on their sponsored walk on Saturday.
- 10 miles for Scouts
- 5 miles for Cubs
- 2 miles for Beavers

They've raised £865 so far for their group, to enhance the provision they receive.

After the walk the children did their first overnight camp at Kinver Scout Hut which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!"

Diabetes UK Wellness Walk

You may have seen that the Diabetes UK Birmingham Wellness Walk is returning for the second year in a row on the 7th July 2024 in Birmingham City Centre.

Last year we filled the streets of Birmingham in our lovely blue t-shirts, with supporters raising funds in aid of Diabetes UK 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️👣🎽👟.
We are hoping that this year's walk will be even bigger, with an extended route (8 miles in total) that will now pass through the streets of the famous Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.

The event registration is now OPEN, do follow this link to sign up if you are interested in taking part - Birmingham – Wellness Walks (diabetes.org.uk)

If you don't fancy taking part in the walk it's self, we do have volunteering opportunities available such as route marshals and general event volunteers, so you can be part of the fun, without having to do the steps. - Volunteer – Wellness Walks (diabetes.org.uk)

Finally...

I’ll close this week’s newsletter with a positive quote, especially aimed at all those pupils taking exams and tests over the coming weeks.

In the words of Audrey Hepburn, remember:

“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I’m Possible.”

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
