Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Well, we have had a great first week back! Our attendance figures have been the best yet, so it is reassuring to see that lots of our children have returned fit and well to school.

We have launched our next SPARKS points challenge in order for our children to earn their AWARE badge this term- see below for more details.

We are looking ahead to some more fun and engaging curriculum days in school. The first of these being Geography Day next Friday. As part of this, each class will be making a sea creature made from plastic rubbish! If any families have any plastic they could donate- such as: drinks bottles, milk cartons, lids or yoghurt pots, please take it to the year 1 classroom door from Wednesday next week. Thanks in advance for your support with this.

As always, this newsletter does contain valuable and important information for our families to be aware of- please take note of the Forest School dates and after school club information below.

Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Harper who will be celebrating her birthday this weekend.

Welcome back and a happy new year to you all!  It's been a chilly week but hopefully we can start to look forward to lighter evenings and before we know it spring will be in the air.

As we begin our new term, Pastoral support is being given to children who need a little extra help to settle back in.

If your child has been identified to receive support a letter will be making it's way home early next week.  The support given by the Pastoral Team includes nurture groups,  social skills groups, self esteem groups. groups to support anxiety, bereavement and 1:1 support. All support will begin week beginning 20th January.

Should you be concerned about you child's mental health and wellbeing or have any questions about support please contact Sue Priest (01384 818315) or email spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Primary Admissions - Reception 2026

We have been asked by Dudley Admissions team to remind parents of children due to start Reception class in September 2025 that the closing date is fast approaching - it is the 15th January 2025. There is still a significant number of parents who haven’t yet applied.  Please pass this message on to others who may not have access to this Newsletter.

In Dudley children start primary school the September after their 4th birthday. The law states all children must start school by the beginning of the term after their 5th birthday.

For all school admissions we recommend that you apply online, this means you will receive your decision via email after 2pm on the offer date.

If there is anyone who may struggle with the online system, a paper application can be sent to the school.

Admissions team can be contacted here:

Mrs Cadman's English News

I can't quite believe we are into 2025!  I hope all families had a relaxing break and managed to do some reading over the Christmas holidays.  During assembly this week, so many children put their hands up to say that they had received books as presents at Christmas.

Thank you to Mia, Eve and Fearne for entering my Christmas writing challenge over the festive break.  They wrote a story associated with Christmas and Mia even included illustrations.

All girls received a Write you own Storybook as their prize.

Look out for future competitions.

In the meantime, please keep reading with your child - if you find any books which you really enjoy as a family, please let us know so we can share these recommendations.

Meet the staff

Finally...

For the end of our first week back of the new year, I will sign off with a quote that I feel is very apt.

Please everyone view the New Year…

“…like a blank book, it has 12 chapters and 365 pages and you are the author. My wish for you is that this year, you write the most amazing story possible for yourself.”

Happy New Year! xxx

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
