Welcome to our Newsletter
This week saw us welcoming the children back after our half term break. The second half of the Autumn term promises to be very busy, as you will see from the ‘Important Dates’ section below.
Today we remembered and honoured those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the armed forces in our ‘Remembrance Assembly’. Thank you to those families who were able to attend. I’m sure you will agree the story, songs and poppies shared were a fitting tribute to the memory of those who have lost their lives at war. If you could not make the assembly, we have included a link in this newsletter whereby you can view the story and listen to the songs.
There is also lots of other information to digest below, so keep reading folks!
Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Fearne, Carter and Leo who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be over the weekend.

Mrs Cadman's English News.
Thank you to those families who sent photographs in of their child reading over half term. It is always lovely seeing the children reading outside of school.
These photos are now displayed in school in our KS2 reading area.

Reading Buddies
Each term, the Reading Ambassadors buddy up with some Year 2 children to support with their reading.
They also help them to use Accelerated Reader - the online platform that allows children to quiz on the books they have been reading.
Accelerated Reader is available to children in Years 2 up to Year 6. Children all have their log in details (check Reading Records if you are not sure what they are) and can quiz at home once they have completed their book.
Accelerated Reader helps to monitor that the children are reading books of the correct level and the quizzing allows them to develop their comprehension skills.
Ask your child to show you their Accelerated Reader profile online to see how much they have been reading and the quiz scores that they have been getting!

Could we have a tie this term?

Finally...
In a weekend where we will be reminded of those lives that have been lost to wartime, my quote to end this week’s newsletter urges us all to show each other compassion.
“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
