Enthusiasm was also evident during World Book Day on Thursday. Please see below for photos and details of what turned out to be a truly fantastic day!

The end of term is fast approaching and will culminate with a birthday celebration day for 50 years of Crestwood Park- please read details below about arrangements for this day.

World Book Day 2024

It was fantastic to see so many different characters this year for World Book Day.  Throughout the day, we celebrated by going on a book hunt, meeting an author, taking part in competitions, discovering new books and much more.

Dan Barnes came in to read his very own story 'Brave Banana' and to talk about being an author. Brave Banana was written as a family - by Dan, his wife and his son Todd!  Two lucky children were picked to receive a Brave Banana book signed by Dan.

The Story Jars that have been sent in are absolutely fabulous and are being displayed in the reading areas around school.

The Reading Ambassadors in Year 6 had a difficult job deciding on the best dressed from each class and even deciding on the best dressed members of staff!  They have done a really good job all day to sort the book hunt and run a bookmark making club during lunch.  Their final task will be to choose some Key Stage 2 Pupil Librarians - children have had the opportunity to write an application for the role and the Reading Ambassadors will be looking through them and deciding on two from each class.

Many thanks to families for helping us to celebrate World Book Day - remember “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” Dr Seuss.

Looking After Our Wellbeing

We hope you are well and have had a good week. Our week has been so full of wonderful things, our children have been amazing.

Alongside learning something new sharing kindness with others empowers us to be strong.  Sharing kindness can be contagious, when others see you doing something good they feel motivated to do the same.  It helps to boost your self-esteem and brings energy and happiness. As it is a special Mothers day weekend, why not share kindness with the people you love and care about. See the joy and happiness it brings.

Why not share the story - Kindness is my superpower.  Please only do the suggested activities your parents are happy for you to do.

Amazon Wish List - Updated

We have updated our Amazon Wish List - as always we are really grateful for any donation we receive and the little things really do go a long way!

Celebrating our children's work

Year 2 have been busy bees crafting character descriptions of our beloved Mr Fox.

Let's dive into Thomas's fantastic piece! His vivid descriptions truly bring Mr Fox to life.

Well done, Thomas! Keep up the excellent work, Year 2! 🌟

50th Birthday Party Day- Friday 22nd March

We are getting very excited for our birthday celebrations in school on Friday 22nd March. On this day, children can wear party clothes!

Our morning assembly at 9.00am on this day will see the children taking us through the decades and recalling moments from Crestwood Park’s history. Due to special guests (including past members of staff) attending this assembly, we will have a limit of ONE SEAT PER FAMILY. No pre-school children will be able to attend. It is impossible to accommodate more than this due to the size of our hall and Health and Safety regulations. Your seat for the assembly will be available to book from Monday 11th March on the School Life app under the Clubs and Bookings tab.

Children will have their lunch as a street party and take part in party games during the afternoon!

We appreciate that parents would like to be involved so, as the morning assembly places are limited, we are opening up an invite to ALL to come onto the playground at 3.00pm when the children will perform a celebratory song (weather permitting).

Can you help?

On our Birthday Celebration Day, we are hoping to set up a ‘Crestwood Park through the Decades’ room containing memorabilia and photographs.

If you know anyone who has attended Crestwood Park in the past who may have some items or photographs, we could display in the room, could you please ask if they would be prepared to ‘loan’ them to us for this day. Any items and photographs can be sent in via the school office.

If we could have them by Wednesday 20th March, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your support with this request.

Breaktime Tuck - NO CASH ALERT

From Monday 8th April, we will not be accepting any cash payments for toast and milkshakes.

These breaktime tuck items will need to be booked and paid for on the Teachesr2Parents app.

Thank you to parents who are already using this facility.

There is still another week to go before the draw, so look our for your HSA team on the playground after school!

Finally...

As I sign off this week, I want to wish all Mum’s a Happy Mother’s Day for Sunday and share a special quote with you...

“To the world, you are a mother, but to your family, you are the world.”

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
