Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter!

It's been an 'out of this world' week at Crestwood Park- we had a fantastic Space Day on Thursday (the children who chose to dress up looked really amazing), we've had a visitor from the Blue Cross talking to children in Reception and KS1 earlier in the week, and today we've finished with the National Day of Smiles! Thankyou to the Anti-Bulling Ambassadors for helping Crestwood Park to spread some cheer!

Next week we will be holding our first Whole School Art Day and Exhibition. On Thursday all classes will take part in art activities and then, from 3pm parents and families are invited in to view children's work (until 3:30pm).

During the last week of the half term we will hold our first Parents' Evening of the school year. Appointments can be booked from this Monday onwards, via the Sch.Life app. If you have any queries about this, please speak to class teachers or any member of the school team.

Happy Birthday to you..

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Harry, Molly, Lainey Cailen, Travis, Eva and Brogan who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be doing, over the weekend.

It is great to see so many children achieving 100% attendance. However, we do realise that there are absences that are unavoidable. We will in the future, consider the reason for an absence and use our discretion to determine whether it should affect your child being acknowledged as a 100% attendee. For example- a hospital appointment that cannot possibly be altered will not affect your child earning a reward. Thank you for your understanding with this. Whilst we are striving for 100%, we will also endeavour to acknowledge that some absences are unavoidable.

We have been rewarding 100% attendance in a variety of ways since the start of term and children are enjoying the extra treats. From Monday 10th to Thursday 20th October, any child who has been at school 100% of the time will be able to sit on the '100% Attendance' table at lunch time on the Thursday.

Slight changes to the school day...

In September, the Government said that all schools must be offering a school day that equated to 32.5hrs over a week and if schools weren't offering that, then they should work towards the 32.5hrs expectation. We have reviewed our timings and in order to be in line with the Government guidance, we need to extend our school day slightly. The new start time will be 8:50am and the finish time will be 3:20pm; these changes will come into effect after October half term. If you have any questions about the change or have opinions that you would like to share and discuss, please contact the school office and we can make arrangements for you to meet with a member of the leadership team.

A message from the Pastoral Team...

We hope you have had an amazing week and that you have enjoyed finding ways to connect with your friends and family.

This week we are reminding ourselves about how important it is to keep learning.

Not only can learning new skills be useful but it can also improve your mental well-being.  Life-long learners are likely to be more optimistic and will be more resilient and enjoy life.  It's also likely that you will be able to cope with stressful situations better.

So why not think about learning a new language or beginning to play a musical instrument, learning to ride a bike, bake or learn a new sport...the list is endless.

We hope you look forward to learning something new.

Have a great week ahead, take care xxx

No Sports Club - Half Term

We have made the decision not to run a sports club during half term.

This is due to the planned roadworks on Lapwood Avenue and the road being closed.

Thank for your understanding.

TT Rockstars

Times Tables Rock Stars is back!....A message from Mr Powell...

Very well done to this week's times tables champion Lily with 463 correct answers in just one week!

Beat that if you can, to be next week's champ.

A Sad Goodbye...

We are sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Barnett (previously Miss Andrews) who is leaving us after a very long time at Crestwood Park. Mrs Barnett was a teaching assistant and lunchtime supervisor and saw many, many classes of children pass through the school during her time here, but after a prolonged illness, she has made the difficult decision to step down from her role. Tina, we wish you all the best as you continue to battle with your illness- don't forget that you will always be part of the Crestwood Park family.

Parent Voice Meeting - 2nd December

Our next meeting will be on Friday 2nd December at 9.00am. As always all parents are invited to attend.

Looking after our Community

Fantastic fundraising

Well done to Sienna and Savannah who have been raising extra funds for Macmillian Cancer Support by selling bracelets at lunchtime.

Together they have raised just over £32 for Macmillian Cancer Support.

Well done to both of you - we are very proud!

Please find below details of the Dudley Parent Carer Forum annual survey 2022.

Dudley Parent Carer Forum are excited to launch their annual survey of SEND services. This is a completely independent survey, designed for parent carers of children or young people aged 0-25, looking at a range of education, health and social care services across the borough. Parent Carers are invited to share their views, letting us know about the services that are doing well, and those that may need to improve. We had a fantastic response last year and the results of this provided us with some very important data which has enabled us to push for change where this is needed.

The survey takes around 10-15 minutes to complete.

And finally...

We hope that the sunshine sticks around a little bit over the weekend and that you all get time with friends and family. Take care and we look forward to seeing you to do it all again on Monday!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
