Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

We are in the final term of this academic year and the first week back after half term has certainly flown! With lots of exciting events planned for the remaining weeks, I’m sure the rest of the term will fly by too. The school calendar has recently been updated to include details of all forthcoming events, including non-uniform days, so please keep checking in with it.

This week’s highlight event has certainly been today’s ‘Career Day’, which was organised by Miss Obertelli. All the children have moved around school and learned about jobs linked to the curriculum subjects. They have explored the careers of architects, meteorologists, journalists, forensic scientists, caricaturists, and stunt pilots to name a few!  All of these careers were then showcased in our after-school exhibition. Thank you to all those who attended- hopefully you found it both interesting and informative. Our children have certainly had their ‘eyes opened’ today to a few of the opportunities that could be available to them if they continue to achieve well in particular subjects. Please keep scrolling to see some photos from the day!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Rosie, Joshua, Lennox and Archie who have all celebrated their birthdays this week.

Careers Day

What a fantastic careers day we had! The children had a great time moving around the school, getting stuck into learning about all sorts of different jobs. It was such a great way for them to experience things in a fun and hands-on manner.

Seeing their faces light up with excitement as they explored various career paths was truly special. Who knows, we might have inspired some future forensic scientists, pilots, or sign language interpreters!

Huge thanks to the volunteers and staff who made the day a huge success!

A Message from our Pastoral Team

Welcome back to the summer term, it has been so good to see you all.

This week we would like to share a story about feelings for you to enjoy with your child. We all experience so many different emotions but when children are growing up and experiencing 'big' emotions they sometimes don't know how to soothe/regulate themselves.  Parents and carers play such an important role in teaching their children how to manage their emotions.  This is done through co-regulation. Co-regulation is when an adult supports a child to soothe themselves when they are upset, sad or angry.  This could be with a hug or asking them to take some time out, talking to them or listening to their worries. This enables them to learn how to bring calm back to themselves. This is such an important step for them learning how to deal with their feelings independently. Supporting your child to name their emotion is a great way to begin.  e.g. "I can see this has made you feel upset/angry etc." This helps them to recognise their feelings.

Next week we will share some top tips to support 'big' feelings.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, look after each other, lots of love from The Pastoral Teamxxx

School Council Visit to Crystal Gateway

We just had the most amazing visit to the Crystal Gateway centre, which offers support to people living with dementia.

Our children were absolute stars during the visit! They brought so much joy and brightness to the residents' days.

It's heartwarming to see how our little ones can make such a big difference in the lives of others. We are incredibly proud of them!

Let's keep spreading kindness and positivity wherever we go.

Respecting Our Neighbours

Unfortunately, this week, I have received more than one complaint regarding conduct outside of school. Could I please urge you all to act respectively in Tunstall Road in particular, by ensuring children walk sensibly on the pavements and that cars/vans are driven at a safe speed.

One of our SPARKS values is Respectful- a value which we want to display to the residents who live in our community.

Many thanks for your support in this matter. I am always receiving lovely comments about our school and so it is upsetting when reports of disrespectful and unsafe behaviours occur.

Celebrating Our Children's Work

Our Reception class really love their daily Drawing Club.

This week they have been working on 'Three Little Pigs'. Theodor has worked incredibly hard - he has created his own number password and word password. The number password turns the wolf silver and the word password turns the wolf in to Theodor. Theodor has a great imagination.

The challenge was also to draw the wolf disguised as a pig , Theodor has definitely passed the challenge.

Well Done.

Finally...

As we have been thinking about careers all day, I have chosen to end this week’s newsletter with one of my favourite quotes…

“Stay positive, work hard and make it happen.”

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
