Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

September has certainly flown by in school, and I’m sure October will be no exception! We have several events planned, so as always, keep an eye on the calendar and keep checking your phone for sch.life messages!

By now, the children have had time to really settle into their classes. Therefore, it was great to be able to give feedback and update parents on Wednesday at Parents Evening. Such evenings help you to keep informed about your child’s progress- thank you to all parents who attended- there was a lovely buzz around school- particularly in the hall where we had freebies on offer!

Let’s hope we can create the same ‘buzz’ at our Art Exhibition- due to take place after school next Friday- see below for more details about the day…

Is my child too ill for school?

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school, nursery or playgroup when they're unwell.

There are government guidelines for schools and nurseries about managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off school and when they shouldn't.

If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone the school or nursery on the first day. Let them know that your child won't be in and give them the reason.

If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know.

See the NHS guidance on this using the link below

Art Day

This year for Art Day the whole school will be exploring the same painting. Everyone will create a piece of art work that interprets the painting in a different way.

There will be a variety of other activities that the children will take part in during the day including an art competition- 3 winners will be chosen and awards will be given in our next assembly.

At the end of the day we are inviting you to our art exhibition where you can come and see the children's art work on display.

Looking After Our Wellbeing

We hope you are all well and have had a good week.  The children are enjoying the use of our new 'Cosy Cave', just a reminder from last week, if any of you are de-cluttering, we would love to re-purpose your treasures and would be so grateful for any cushions, bean bags, lighting etc. to enhance the room.

Now...back to our kindness challenges, check out the kindness poster and see how many acts of kindness you can complete, share them with Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest.  The person who achieves the most in a week will receive a special prize.  Simple acts of kindness make our world a better place, we know you are already wonderful, so now's your chance to shine and begin to spread kindness.

Enjoy the weekend, look after each other, can't wait to see you all next week, lots of love The Pastoral Team xxx

Celebrating our children's work

In Science this week year 3 have been investigating fair tests. They worked in small groups to answer the question 'People with longer legs jump further'.

As you can see Emilie has answered this question perfectly .

Subject Spotlight

Each week we will be sharing with you a subject that is taught in school and allowing you to see your child's learning journey in that subject.

This week we are sharing the learning journey for Maths.

We hope you find it informative and useful.

AL OF OUR CURRICULUM JOURNEYS FOR EACH SUBJECT CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE.

5p Fridays

Thank you to all the pupils who are remembering and contributing to our 5p Fridays.

This year, each class has decided upon a charity to support. We are really promoting social action as part of our school improvement plan, so this fits perfectly with our intention to perform acts of kindness.

Therefore, the money raised by each class through collecting 5ps will then be sent to the charity they have chosen.

Times Table Rockstars

The times tables champion of the week will be changing this year. There will be a new award with everyone working towards their own targets.

The TTRS competitions will continue, this year we'll do house competitions:

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
