Welcome to our Newsletter
How wonderful it has been to welcome all the children back to school this week after the summer break. It’s not always easy to get back into the routines of school, but they have all managed marvellously. Children I have spoken to around school have been excited to talk to me about their summer, but even more excited to tell me about their new classroom and teachers!
This term we have already said goodbye to Miss Johnson, whose baby is due very soon! Mrs Jeavons will also start her maternity leave in the coming weeks. Exciting times!
We have welcomed Mrs Sarah Barratt as a teacher. She will be teaching across the school and regularly in years 4 and 1. Mrs Charlotte Round, who many of you will already know, has also become a fully-fledged member of our teaching team for this year. She will be teaching in Reception whilst Ms Bullas continues her maternity leave.
Our first newsletter of the term does, as always, contain lots of important and useful information, so … enjoy reading on!
Happy Birthday to you...

Cashpot for schools
Parentkind – the charity that supports school PTAs - have teamed up with Asda, who is making millions of pounds available to donate to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative – all you have to do is, opt in through the Asda Rewards app, choose our primary school and shop and scan in store or shop online at Asda.com, between 2nd September and 30th November 2024
Asda will donate 0.5% of the value of your shop to our Primary school. Also, every time somebody opts in, Asda will give an additional £1 to the school Cashpot. Plus, it doesn’t stop there – Asda are also giving £50 to every school to get them started.
The supermarket has joined forces with Joe Wicks to support the initiative – look out for the TV advert, radio ads and social media coverage

Sad News
It was with sadness this week that we received the news that a former Headteacher of Crestwood Park- Mr Pete Best- had passed away. We have passed on our sincere condolences on behalf of Crestwood Park Primary to his family.
Pete was able to return for our 50th Birthday celebrations earlier in the year, which we were all delighted about. So many families and staff have such fond memories of when he was Headteacher. He is certainly a key figure in the school's history. Everyone I ever speak to about 'Mr Best', praise him for his kindness. He will certainly be remembered as a caring and lovely gentleman, who absolutely adored the children and their families.
He was so pleased that he was well enough to visit the school again as we turned 50 and commented that the school still continued to feel like a family.

Meet the staff

Finally...
Well, you reached the end of our first newsletter of the year- thank you for reading this far!
Thank you too for ensuring that your children returned to school looking so smart and following our uniform policy. Ask your children if they have been awarded a SMART point this week… ten points will result in them receiving a SMART badge at the end of this half term!
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
