Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Well... we did get wet today! This week has been slightly unsettling and not just because of the weather. With a Bank Holiday and a Voting Day thrown into the mix, we decided the best way to end such a disrupted week was with a Well-Being Day. I can assure you that, apart from getting a bit wind swept and soggy at 3.00pm, ALL of our children have had an amazing time in school today! Baking, dancing, singing, crafting, gardening and celebrating our new King have all been on the timetable. Hopefully, if you ask them, your children will be able to elaborate!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Dylan, Logan, Evan and Hassan who have celebrated their birthday this week.

Well Being Day 5th May 2023

Thank you to everyone who came along today!

Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold up for us, but as always our Crestwood Park children continued to shine!

Well done to those classes who were able to perform before the heavens opened- your moves were brilliant!

For the classes who were unable to perform today, we will endeavour to give you the chance to dance us through your decade at a later date, either at a class assembly or as part of a forthcoming event.

As part of our well-being day today, the children have all planted a sunflower seed. These will be brought home for them to nurture.

Before the end of term, we will then ask children to show us the progress they have made and prizes will be awarded for our budding gardeners.

For any child who really does love gardening - please see the information below in order to apply for a Blue Peter badge - the benefits of such a badge are really amazing!

Let’s turn grey spaces into colourful places 🌈

Plant a seed, Let It Grow and bring nature to where we live. 🦋

To make it really easy for you to get involved, we’ll be sending out a free pack of sunflower seeds to children who successfully apply for any Blue Peter badge after Friday 31st March.

Easy to grow, their cheery yellow flowers will brighten up any space and the birds and the bees love them too!

Just apply for your badge in the usual way and you’ll receive them with the letter and badge that we send out to you.

Looking after our wellbeing

Thank you to so many of you who have taken part in our challenges, we love to hear what you have achieved.  This week Mya in Year 2 enjoyed the Encanto challenge, you are amazing, well done.

This week we thought you might enjoy something a little different.  Yoga is a fantastic way to keep your body fit and healthy. Why not try Cosmic kids yoga at home with a member of your family. There are so many different work outs to choose from this link will take you to 10 minute work outs.

Please see Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest to let us know which one you enjoyed.

We hope you are looking forward to celebrating the coronation over the bank holiday weekend.

Lots of Love - The Pastoral Team xx

Important Update from The Pastoral Team

Most of you will know that SAT's are taking place over the next few weeks for some of our children in school.

This can be a tricky time for some, therefore the Pastoral team will be playing a key supporting role whilst they are taking place, often having a direct role in their administration.

In order to be able to do this, this will mean that our 'Little buddy groups' will begin after half term.

Thank you so much for supporting us and we hope you understand how important this is for some of our children.

5p Fridays

5p Friday's are proving very successful! Every class is now well on the way to saving enough for their planned prize.

We will continue to ask for each child to bring in a 5 pence piece on a Friday. The children will take charge of counting the money and calculating how much more they need to reach their goal.

The  challenge is to raise enough in order to be able to pay for their chosen reward. Please ask your children what their class are saving towards!

This will be a fantastic opportunity for each class to know the importance of budgeting, saving and spending!

There is no obligation for you to contribute, but it would be greatly appreciated!

Our new books have arrived!

This week, new books have been delivered to classrooms, using the rewards we receive from Scholastic because of the purchases that you make at our termly book fairs.

Thank you for all your support in these events - it really makes a difference for our children!

A message from your HSA

Don't forget we are still looking for businesses who may want to support/attend our Get Together Picnic on Friday 7th July.

If you are able to pass these details on to anyone who you think may be interested and ask them to contact chsa@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk

Thank you

Finally...

As I sign off this week, my message reiterates what King Charles III has said about being King- he stated that he was... "Determined to make the most of it." So I too hope that you all make the most of the extra Bank Holiday we have been given in recognition of our King's coronation. Enjoy the celebrations everyone! God Save the King.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
