Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Well, October has arrived, and another week had flown by in school. Walking around school and visiting classrooms this week has shown me that our children have well and truly settled into the routines of their class.

Reception children have been ‘creating’ all things ‘Autumn’ and have done some amazing Autumn themed work, which is on display. Parents will be able to see this work at their Parents Evening next week. Apologies that we had to postpone the Parents Evening for this year group- but we look forward to welcoming you into school this coming Wednesday.

Thanks to parents of all our other year groups, who were able to attend Parents Evening- it was lovely to see you all in school. We hope you enjoyed seeing the work your children have completed and appreciated the opportunity to speak with teachers. Thanks too for supporting our Book Fair- more details about this are below- so please keep on scrolling!

Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Jenson, Kristof, Zoe and Harry who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be over the weekend.

Mrs Cadman's English News.

There was such a buzz around the book fair during parents evening and so many children were excited about being able to buy a new book. Thank you so much for being so generous.  Over £800 was spent during the evening - this will give us rewards to spend on books for school.

Thank you.

Raffle!

Scholastic gave us vouchers to spend at the book fair - so we picked 3 names out of a hat and these lucky children got to choose a book from the fair - Kaiden, Emilie and Sophie.

Happy Reading!

Pastoral Update

We hope you are all well and have had a lovely week.  Following on with ways to connect. It has been proven that true connection given to our children can be through play.  We are all busy and parenting can be challenging but if we could spend just 10 minutes to connect with our children through play each day, you would be amazed what a difference it can make.
Pam Leo Quote
Pam Leo has written a book about connection parenting here is one way she suggests to 'Fill your love cup.'

  • Filling the Love Cup
  • Pam suggests that kids need at least 10 minutes of daily connect time with at least one adult to feel safe, connected, and loved.  During this time, your child needs to have your full attention, and to get really connected, your full engagement.
  • That means PLAY!
  • If you want to really connect with your kids, I learned that it’s not enough to just take them to the playground and watch them, you need to play with them (that’s the engagement part)! Although it can feel tiresome to play with your kids after a long day, the benefits far outweigh the negatives.

We hope the information is helpful.  Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine.  Lots of love The Pastoral Team xxx

Allergy Alert

Urgent Peanut Allergy Advice

We are contacting you to notify you of an urgent peanut allergy alert recently issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA). We have been made aware that mustard ingredients used in various food products have been found to be contaminated with peanuts, posing a serious risk to individuals with peanut allergies.

As a result, the FSA is advising anyone with a peanut allergy to avoid consuming foods that contain, or may contain, mustard, mustard powder or mustard flour because they may have been contaminated with peanuts. These mustard ingredients are often found in food such as dips, sauces, salads and pre-packed sandwiches.

Further details of the alert and Allergy UK’s advice for anyone who may be affected by a peanut allergy can be found in the news story on our website. Click here to read.

We understand the concern this may cause and encourage you to heed the FSA advice. We also recommend you are aware of what do to in the event of an emergency anaphylactic event and ensure you are AAI ready. Information on this can be accessed via the links below.

Allergy UK is working closely with the FSA to monitor the development of this incident. We will continue to proactively communicate updates as soon as we are able.

Stay safe and best wishes,

The Allergy UK Team

Finally...

So, as we welcome the second month of our Autumn term, my quote to sign off this week is…

“The end of the summer is not the end of the world… here’s to October!”

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
