Welcome to

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Well, the summer term is racing on- hard to believe it is July already!

We've made it through reports, trips and heatwaves, and a wonderful Get Together Picnic this evening. The event has been such a success, thank you to all who attended and congratulations to those of you who won one of our rainbow coloured hampers. We made an amazing £904! All proceeds will all go towards creating a new play space for our children. We also supported three charities close to our heart: Mary Stevens Hospice, Paediatric Diabetes and St John's Ambulance. We will share some photos on next week's newsletter.

With only two more weeks to go, we do still have plenty of things to look forward to, including: Enterprise, Transition Morning (15th July) and the Key Stage 2 Production. Please see below for more details about the Year 6 Enterprise and what this entails for your children.

Our school garden continues to blossom, and is also inspiring some budding gardeners across school. Keep scrolling to see which of our pupils this week has proven she has green fingers!

Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Tanatswa and Dollie-Lou who have celebrated their birthday this week or will be over the weekend.

Forest School

Forest School Calendar and Kit List

Only a few sessions left of Forest School this term.

Please pay close attention to the required items.  Even when it is hot, children still need to have long sleeves and trousers.

Our Forest School Practitioner, Mr Barnett, carries out a risk assessment before every session - this includes risk assessing the weather conditions.

These sessions are part of the school day, so please assume that each session will take place.  If for any reason we need to cancel the session, due to weather or staffing for example, we will inform you via sch life.

The appropriate clothing needed for these sessions needs to be long - long bottoms and long t-shirts, to cover skin - to avoid cuts, bites and grazes.  In the heat these can be lightweight items.

With the recent heatwave, one of the coolest places in school, is the shaded forest area.

Our SPARKS!

Only 2 weeks to go to earn the SAFE badge.

Children will be trying to earn 10 SAFE points in a number of ways.

These include -

  • Tuck in chairs and sit on chair properly.
  • Sit still and calmly when eating lunch- do not move around with food in your mouth.
  • Eat toast and drink milkshakes in a safe space- sitting down outside.
  • Carry scissors the safe way.
  • Use all equipment in the way you have been shown
  • Make sure you remain in sight of an adult outside at all times.
  • Report any spillages/hazards that you see in school.
  • Play games safely and always tidy equipment away.
  • Follow instructions when playing on any equipment.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Wear sunscreen or a cap on sunny days.
  • On school trips, follow all the safety rules given to you by the adults.
  • Walk sensibly around the school building.
  • If you see a visitor/stranger who is not wearing a lanyard, tell an adult.

Pastoral Update

We hope you are all well and have had a wonderful week.

This week sees us celebrating the last week of your child's "Little Buddy Group".  This is so that end of session assessments can be completed and support given with transitions in preparation for September.  Individual and of course any support on a need basis will also continue.

Once assessments have been completed feedback will be given, if you have any concerns or have any questions about your child or the support they have received, please do not hesitate to contact Sue Priest of (01384) 818315 or email spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk and she will get back in touch.

It has been a truly wonderful term and we feel privileged to have been a part of your child's journey.

Enjoy the weekend and look after each other, take care, lots of love The Pastoral Team xxx

Stay SAFE in the heat.

Please remember to send a water bottle and a cap into school for your child during these hot sunny days.

Please apply sun cream before they come to school.

We will always remind children to find shady places when outside and we will make alternative arrangements for break, lunch and blast time, when the heat is too much.

Mrs Cadman's News!

Last weekend, Archie, in Year 3, met the one and only Lydia Monks at an event called Booknic.  This event celebrated books, reading, writing and illustrating. There were authors and illustrators at the event. Children could attend with a picnic and swap books, choose new ones for free, learn languages, play instruments, skateboard, listen to stories and all sorts of fun things.

Lydia Monks is a fantastic illustrator - you might know her from her illustrations in the book series 'What the Ladybird Heard...'  Lydia even drew some special illustrations in Archie's book.

Thank you Archie for sharing this with us.  Amazing!

Gardening News!

We have a budding gardener in our Crestwood Park family.

Lily, in Year 6, has been working hard all year round with her Dad, to grow a range of plants. Take a look at the photos - they really are fantastic! Well done Lily.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for fundraising for Up and Downs on World Down Syndrome Day. Your generosity will directly support our upcoming group activities over the next few months, including Forest School sessions, bowling, visits from the Animal Man, Singing Hands, and many more exciting events still to be planned!
It’s truly wonderful to see our children’s communities coming together, getting involved, and helping raise awareness. Your support makes a real difference.

Many Thanks

DPA - Learn to Play

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
