Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Another week draws to a close and it is another week that has flown by. Children seem really settled in school. I have had the pleasure of teaching in several classes this week and I am always impressed by how much the children embrace their learning. Year 1 in particular have simply blown my socks off with their knowledge about Guy Fawkes!

In order for you to receive some feedback on how the new school year is progressing for your child, we urge you to book an appointment for Parents Evening, due to be held next week. Please see further on in this newsletter for more details.

Next week, school council elections will take place. Our school council representatives from each class have a really important role in leading initiatives and particularly driving our eco-challenges. Our aim this year is to become even more eco-friendly! We will announce our successful candidates next week.

Parents' Evening

Wednesday 8th October.

Parents' Evening will take place in the hall this year.  This will be a great opportunity for you to see how your child has settled in to their new class.

Appointments (to be booked through Sch.Life) are 5 minutes long.

Please come along just before your time slot, enter through the main entrance and wait in the hall to see your child's class teacher.

Whilst you wait, there will be a chance for you to browse and buy from the Book Fair and a uniform table for you to help yourself to.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

Afterschool clubs.

After School Clubs are happening now! It's not too late to join.

Payments to be made on Teachers2Parents.

Don't forget swimming sessions are taking place for Year 6 children every Tuesday morning up until October Half Term.

Please read carefully the Forest School kit list. We advise that years 1 & 2 can arrive in their forest school clothes and bring school uniform to change into after the session. Years 3,4,5 & 6 will wear school uniform as normal to school and bring their forest school clothes in a separate bag.

Please be aware that in some sessions, children will get wet and muddy therefore, please bring a separate coat for the session for your child to wear, keeping their school coat dry and clean for break and lunchtimes.

To participate in the session the following must be adhered to, strictly no denim or open toed shoes in any season this also includes crocs, long hair to be tied up, jewellery and earrings to be removed and finally NO school uniform to be worn to a Forest School session.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to me.

Many thanks

Pastoral Update

Vitamin D: The sunshine vitamin | Mom's ...

What another beautiful week it has been, the weather is being very kind to us at the moment so be sure to get out into the fresh air when you can. The outdoors is so important to look after our mental and physical health. During the winter months vitamin D is vital to give our immune system a boost, so get as much as you can from daylight and sunlight.

SUPPORT FOR ANGER MANAGEMENT

This week we would like to share a resource from the NSPCC about how to support our/your children with anger.

It is important that children learn how to manage 'BIG' feelings.  Although anger is a 'normal' feeling, it is also a very powerful emotion which is why children sometimes find it difficult to regulate and bring themselves back down so they need our/your support.   We all get angry from time to time but as adults we learn how to manage ourselves and I think we sometimes take for granted just how much self control is needed to manage such a 'BIG' emotion.  Take a look at the link below for some top tips.

We hope you have found this information useful, should you have any worries or concerns about your child, please contact us either on 01384 818315 or email spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend enjoying the outdoors when you can.  Look after each other, lots of love from The Pastoral Team xxx

Mrs Cadman's News!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming up!

On Parents Evening - Wednesday 8th October - the books will be on sale in the entrance way/kitchen area.

There are some fantastic deals available and a wide range of books.

Cash and card payment are available.

Each purchase enables the school to purchase books through the scholastic rewards system - so the more you spend, the more books we can get in school.

Take a look at the website link to see what is available.

Please see below information about Mr Barnett's Half Term Halloween Multi-Sports Club ðŸŽƒ

Thinking of having a sort out over the half term before Christmas?

We have signed up to the Rags2Riches4Schools recycling scheme, to help others around the world benefit from our good quality unwanted clothes and shoes. The money we raise from every kilo of clothes we collect will go towards our school and we would be most grateful if you could help us with this challenge at home.

Bags of clothes can be handed in to the school office FROM MONDAY 3rd NOVEMBER due to storage. The bags are being collected on WEDNESDAY 5th NOVEMBER so please do not bring in bags later than this date.

Please help us to help others and raise much needed funds for our school.

Thank you for your continuing support.

Finally...

Hoping you manage to dodge the showers this weekend and enjoy whatever you have planned.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
