Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

This week has flown and in usual Crestwood Park style, it has been a week full of fun and focus! World Book Day yesterday saw the school come alive with a whole host of book characters and amongst all of the fun, the children were really able to focus on the importance of reading. Lots of stories and poems were shared and everyone was able to 'show off' their love of books and reading! A great team effort as usual to ensure our children really value the world a book can open up. This term is already picking up pace with lots of events planned for the next few weeks... make sure you continue to read on to note down future important dates for your diary!

Happy Birthday to you..

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Sophia, Darius, Mason and Delilah who have celebrated their birthday this week, or will be celebrating over the weekend.

World Book Day 2023

Wow - what a fabulous day!

We had Gangsta Grannies, Alice in Wonderland, Where's Wally's, Superheroes, Villains, all the favourite fairy tale characters ... and that was just the staff!

The children were even more amazing- thank you for supporting them with their costumes. A fabulous day was had by all. Books and reading was promoted and celebrated across school.

Ask your children about the scavenger hunt. They should be able to complete the phrase below. See if they can tell you the missing word!

Reading is an ____________that never ends!

We will share the best photos from each class in our newsletter next week!

The early bird gets the...reward!

We will be starting an ‘Early Bird' challenge which will run once a week on a random day.

Children who arrive on time will be entered into a prize draw for a certificate and will receive a prize from Mrs Kennedy at the end of the school day.

We are hoping that this will help you to encourage your children to get ready for school in the morning and arrive on time.

Future dates for your diary

Thursady 16th March- School Disco...Key Stage 1: 4.30-5.30pm. Key Stage 2: 5.45-6.45pm. Please look out for letters early next week with more details!

Friday 17th March- Mother's Day Service will take place at 9.00am on Friday 17th March. The children will share three special songs in the hall and then you will be invited back into classrooms to work alongside your child to complete a special activity! Monday 21st March- Rock your Socks for Downs Syndrome! To celebrate World Downs Syndrome day, we are inviting children to wear brightly coloured, mismatched socks and donate £1 to the local charity- Up and Downs.

A message from the Pastoral Team...

Hello everyone, it's been so good to see everyone back in school and lovely to hear what you have been up to over half term.

We are really excited to be continuing with our wellbeing challenges.  This term we are thinking about Learning something new.

Learning something new can be so much fun, it boosts our self confidence and self esteem. It can help us to connect with others and helps us to find meaning and purpose in life. It also helps us to improve our thinking skills.

So how do we keep learning?
We can challenge ourselves to do something different in a different way to what we have done before. Or we can learn a new skill. Learning doesn't always have to be done in school, we can learn in so many different ways. We learn from our family and friends,  from reading and the internet.  We also learn through our own experiences.
For example:
  • You might think about your morning routine and change this around so that you are not so rushed. This might mean that you decide not to watch TV or play on any devices in a morning so that you get ready for school more quickly.
  • Challenge yourself to learn a new game to play with your friends.
  • Spend time teaching someone in your family something you have learnt.
  • Join a club or group to learn something new, this could be swimming, football, dance etc.
The first person who shares one new thing they are going to learn, or do different, will receive house points and a prize.

Please share with Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Celebrating our Children's work

Every week we would like to celebrate a piece of work which has been created by our children. If you child produces work at home that you would like to share, please send it in to us at info@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk

Year 4 hosted a Book tasting yesterday for World Book Day and turned their classroom into a café. It was wonderful as all the children were engaged in reading and familiarizing themselves with a wide variety of genres .

Eden looked at an assortment of books and gave them a score out of 10 and explained what she did and didn't like.

Book Fair 2023

Thank you to everyone who purchased books from the book fair last week.

From your purchases, the school have been rewarded a £650.00 voucher to spend on new books for our children.

Lunchbox Guidance

We are currently in the process of gaining a Healthy Schools Rating. One such way our parents can support us with this, is to ensure packed lunches are in line with government standards.

All food provided at school is governed by legislation, through the School Food Standards. These government standards are intended to help children develop healthy eating habits and ensure they get the energy and nutrition they need across the day.

Thank you as always for your support and we hope that you have found this guidance useful.

PLEASE ALSO LOOK OUT FOR DETAILS OF A ‘LUNCHBOX FOOD IDEAS CLUB’ THAT WILL BE HELD AFTER SCHOOL IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE SUMMER TERM.

It is recommended that schools have a comparable guidance for packed lunches brought in from home. Therefore, based on the School Food Standards, we ask all parents and carers to follow this guidance, for packed lunches brought in from home:

I hope your weekend is fun-filled and that you all find some time to relax. Maybe that will be with a book. To sign off I'll leave you with my favourite Dr Seuss quote.....

" The more that you read, the more you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
