Welcome to

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Well, it's been very musical in school this week! Music day was a great success on Wednesday, and this morning we were able to hear about all of the learning that took place on that day. Thanks to each of our classes in the celebration assembly for sharing songs, information and artwork all inspired by a range of composers. Please see below for some photographs of our children enjoying the day. Children may have also come home tonight with the first of their WOW badges- these indicate a commitment to walking to school- so well done if you were a recipient of one today! If not, you can work on earning a badge in February- just try to walk to school at least once a week!

Happy Birthday to you..

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... William, Chloe, Elsie and Faye who have celebrated their birthday this week, or will be celebrating over the weekend.

A message from the Pastoral Team...

We know many of you have been enjoying 'taking notice' and completing our challenges. It has been fantastic to hear what you've been getting up to. We hope you all took a moment to notice how you were feeling throughout the week and took a brain break or focused on the positives to support your feelings.

Ok, here we go...this week, let's get outside, this can be in your garden, your local park or countryside

To continue in our theme of 'taking notice'  while you're outdoors, enjoy looking at your surroundings and see if you can list at least 5 things of a certain colour - it is amazing how much you will spot.

Or if you fancy getting creative you could take some photos, we would love to see them. Focus on capturing what’s in front of you, really noticing whats around.

We can't wait to hear who has accepted our challenge and completed it, don't forget to share with Mrs Kennedy or Mrs Priest, the first children will get house points and a prize.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Lillie has spent the weekend creating butterflies to leave in the living room to make her family smile everyday.

Children’s Mental Health Week 2023 will take place from 6-12 February 2023. This year’s theme is Let’s Connect.

Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing.

Home & School Association

We are proud to launch the Crestwood Park Home and School Association!

The founding members of this group are hosting a Valentine's Day raffle with some amazing prizes.

Look out for them selling tickets on the playground at drop off and pick up.

More details about this association will follow in the coming weeks.

Music Day 2023!

We would like to say a big thank you to Craig, Ross and Ian who gave up their free time to come along to our music day! They put on a fabulous show, and encouraged children to take part and enjoy the music! What talented parents we have!

Reception had a special visit from Josh our Chair of Governors who brought his guitar in and sang along to some nursery rhymes.

Children also had the opportunity to be part of a samba band! The Kingswinford School very kindly lent us some Samba instruments!

We have posted a few pictures below of our Music Day 2023!

Celebrating our Children's work

Every week we would like to celebrate a piece of work which has been created by our children. If you child produces work at home that you would like to share, please send it in to us at info@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk

Reception class were investigating repeating patterns and simple symmetry in their art lesson.

Evelyn created a beautiful butterfly.

Well done Evelyn.

Rags 2 Riches - We are collecting donations now

Do you have clothes in your wardrobe that you no longer wear, maybe last year’s fashions, or that buy that was too good to leave but it’s not really you after all?

Please help us fundraise by donating your good quality unwanted, re-useable (clean, dry and wearable) clothes and accessories

(please pair and tie shoes together)

Your donations become affordable clothing in other countries - so please do not send poor quality, dirty or wet items, and no duvets, pillows, curtains, books, CDs or bric-a-brac.

STOP and THINK - is it something you’d wear out and about yourself or pass to a friend?

If not, no-one else will want to buy and wear it either, so unfortunately it’s not reusable and can’t go in the bag.

Our collection date is the 23rd March. We thought we would give you as much notice as possible and the half term to have a 'spring sort out'.

We are more than happy to take donations in as soon as you have them! Just pop them into a bag and bring them to the school office.

We will be distributing bags to you all in a few weeks, but wanted to pre-warn you in case you were to have a clear out before then.

Planned Roadworks

Please see below letter we have received from the local authority advising on planned road works.

Bromley Lane Local Safety Scheme

I am writing to inform you that work will shortly begin on Bromley Lane to implement highway improvements as part of a local safety scheme to reduce vehicle speeds and improve pedestrian safety.

To minimise disruption, the main works are being scheduled for February half term (18th-26th February), however some preparatory works will be required to take place in advance of this. Proposed works are as follows:

· Week commencing 6th February – Temporary two-way Lights near to Lapwood Avenue / Albemarle Rd

· Week commencing 20th February – Road Closure between Rangeways Rd and Tesco Express, followed by Road Closure between Denleigh Rd and Rangeways Rd (Rangeways Rd will remain open)

· Week commencing 27th February – Completion of outstanding work under two-way temporary lights

Access for residents will be maintained where possible and the contractor will liaise with any affected properties in the event of temporary obstructions.

Every effort will be made to keep noise pollution to a minimum however it is inevitable that some inconvenience will be caused. We would ask for your understanding and co-operation to allow these works to be carried out safely.

And finally...

February is here and half-term is fast approaching. Before this, you will be receiving your child's mid-year report and a chance to discuss this at Parents Evening. As previously mentioned, please book your time slot on the sch.life app. We hope you welcome this chance to come in to discuss your child's progress. It is always lovely to see parents in school and it has been great to see parental support at our recent Phonics workshops, Reception storytime sessions and our Friday assemblies. Here's hoping you all have a peaceful weekend- remember to take notice and enjoy your surroundings everyone!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
