Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

It has been wonderful to welcome back the children this week from their Easter break. We are at the start of a very short term, but still have some very important events coming up!

Our year 6 children are working hard to prepare for their Statutory Assessments, which take place week beginning 12th May.

Our Sports Day this year will take place on Thursday 22nd May and be split into two parts. For parents of Key Stage 2 children, you are invited to come and watch the races from 9.30am. For parents of Key stage 1 children, the races will be held in the afternoon and will commence at 1.30pm.

Our Achievement Assembly for this term takes place on Friday 23rd May at 9.00am. Children have the opportunity this term to earn their Sparks KIND badge, so please encourage your children to complete their Acts of Kindness card- see below for what this will entail!

Happy Birthday to you...

Sending Birthday wishes to Amelia who has celebrated her birthday this week.

Year 3's Trip To The Dudley Canal Trust

Year 3 enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to the Dudley Canal Trust. The day was packed with hands-on learning as the children took part in two engaging workshops: Rocks and Fossils and Life on a Working Boat. They even had the chance to travel through the historic tunnels on a real canal boat! It was a fantastic experience, and great fun was had by all.

Our SPARKS - Kind

This term our SPARKS focus is KIND

Each child has a chance to receive a KIND SPARKS badge if they complete the 6 acts of kindness on their card.

An adult will need to sign each act and then once all have been completed, please hand them in to the class teacher.

A message from Mr Powell!

A new competition has begun: Boys Vs Girls. The girls have taken a BIG early lead!

Remember: the top ten performers will receive a prize in the Achievers Assembly before half term. The top ten performers from last half term will also receive their prizes in this assembly Friday 23rd May

Pastoral Update

Welcome back! We hope you are all well? It has been so lovely to see everyone back in school and we have been so lucky to be able to enjoy this beautiful weather.

Pastoral update.
New pastoral support will start week beginning 19th May following our Yr 6 SAT's.
You may have been contacted already if your child has been identified to receive support, however, if not  we will be in touch very soon. Letters will also be making their way home to you next week.

If you have any worries or feel your child would benefit from support, please contact us either by calling Sue Priest (01384) 818315 or emailing spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

We hope you have a lovely long weekend and manage to enjoy the sunshine.  With lots of love from The Pastoral Team xx

Mrs Cadman's English News

My first question in assembly this week was 'Who has read over the Easter break?'

The response was fantastic - so many children had read and were excited to tell me all about their books.

We have had some new books delivered and a selection of picture books donated. Once labelled up, these books will be available for the children to read.

If you do have any books you would like to donate to school, please bring them in.

House Points!

It's the start of a new term and the first collection of house points took place today.

After 4 days in school, the Rhinos are in the lead. Will it remain like this or will we have a new leader for next week?

Finally...

One of our Acts of Kindness for children to complete this term is to... Tell someone a joke to make them laugh.

Therefore this week, I thought I'd end with a joke for you all...

Why did the sun go to school?

To get a little brighter!

What's Going on in our Community

Events that may be of interest to you and your families.

Safe & sound, Dudley’s community safety partnership, which incorporates the borough’s local police and crime board, is asking Parents from Dudley what should be done to help make the borough a safer place.

We have created a short survey that can be competed in a few short minutes. You can either complete the survey by clicking on the following link https://forms.office.com/e/T0AUZZrd8b, or you can scan the QR code

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
