Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Well, we made it to the end of January and we started February with a bang! Last night’s Talent Show once again played host to some of our wonderfully talented children. We had singing, dancing, acrobatics, karate and for the first time ever… a comedy act! It was an evening full of entertainment, laugher and fun. Thank you once again to families, friends and staff who supported the event. We are especially grateful to Crestwood Secondary school who allow us to use their theatre free of charge.

In school, the children are continuing to focus on their learning. We are really promoting reading across school this year and I am enjoying the many conversations I am having with children about their favourite books. Our staff too are contributing each week to the newsletter by sharing what their favourite books are… see below!

Happy Birthday to you...

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to...Jacob, William, Chloe and Sofiana who have celebrated his birthday this week or will be celebrating over the weekend!

Looking After Our Wellbeing

What another wonderful week we have had, we hope you are all well.

As we are heading towards spring why not get yourselves outdoors.  This could be in the garden or out in the countryside.  There are so many health benefits when enjoying the outdoors.
  • The fresh air and light improves our immune system.
  • Being with nature can decrease anxiety and stress levels.
  • 30 minutes outdoors can lower blood pressure.
  • Increasing physical activity, increases our fitness levels.
  • It boosts our mood and naturally increases our want to socialise.
Why not do a little bit of bird watching this weekend, its free and you can do this from home, here's a website you might like to give you a few ideas.
We would love to hear what you got up to, if you made a bird feeder or spotted any birds why not take a photo and share them with us.  We can pop it on next weeks newsletter for everyone to see. Have a lovely weekend, enjoy the outdoors, take care, lots of love The Pastoral Team xxxx

Times Table Rockstars - New Term...New Champions?

Dear parent/carer,

Please see the below message from Dudley Council Health Protection Team:

You may have seen recent media reports of rising measles cases across the West Midlands and the Black Country. The most effective way to prevent measles infection, and the possible serious complications it can cause, is by having 2 doses of MMR vaccine. 2 doses of MMR provide 99% protection against measles that is lifelong. It also protects against mumps and rubella. It is safe and effective, and a porcine gelatine free vaccine is available, if this is preferred.

The rise in measles cases is due to declining childhood immunisation rates, including the MMR, nationally over the past 10 years. The higher the immunisation rates, the less opportunity there is for measles infection to circulate, which helps to protect those who are vulnerable due to being unable to receive MMR vaccination (including babies under 1 year old, pregnant women if unvaccinated, and the severely immunocompromised).

It is not too late for children and adults to catch up on the MMR vaccine if they haven’t received 2 doses at the recommended ages of 1 year (1st dose) and 3 years and 4 months (2nd dose). Your GP surgery can be contacted to arrange an appointment. If you are unsure whether your child is immunised with 2 doses of MMR vaccine, you can check their ‘red book’, which is their personal health record. Children who have not had any MMR vaccines may have to stay away from school for up to 21 days if they are identified as a close contact of a confirmed measles case.

Please see the NHS webpages on measles and MMR vaccine for more information, and the below link for local pop-up vaccination clinics for MMR:

Well done to Hassan and Zach in year 3 for being the first two people in the whole school to achieve your Platinum awards.

This means that you have already learnt all of the times tables that you will need for year 3! Amazing work!

There is just one week left of our year group competition, so only one week left to earn your class an extra breaktime.

Year 6    26 532
Year 4      9 052
Year 3      6 941
Year 5      4 016

Finally...

We have just one more week to go until half-term. Don’t forget that next Friday 9th February is an INSET day so the children will break up on Thursday 8th.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
