Monday

Compulsory

Here are three different texts for you to read and answer the questions. They are varying in levels of difficulty, 'The Big Turnip' is most accessible, 'A Scarecrow's Job' is most challenging and 'Clean the Classroom' is somewhere in the middle. You can have a go at all three or choose the one that is most appropriate to you. If you don't have a printer then you can read it on screen and answer the questions separately. Be aware that the answers are on the second page, so don't cheat!!

Go to https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/5/alt-spellings-igh and use the phoneme spotter to spot alternative spellings for 'igh'.

You will need to log in to access this game. Phonics Play is currently availble for free:

Wednesday

Compulsory

Watch the clip 'Catch a Lot' again. Find the link in Tuesday's section. Imagine that it is your job to turn this film into a storybook and you need to design the front cover. What would you include on the cover? Use the sheet below to design your front cover for the book. If you don't have a printer, just draw your front cover onto plain paper.

As we haven't written the date together for a while, here is some spelling and reading practise for days of the week.

Go to https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/5/days-of-the-week and practise reading and spelling the days of the week. You can have a go at writing them on paper too, rather than just on the screen.

You have just been washed up on a desert island. Write a 'message in a bottle' letter that explains how you came to be washed up on this island. You can use the template provided or simply write your letter onto paper if you prefer. You could even use some tea bags to age your paper if you wanted to!

Use the sheets below to practise rhyming. Begin by sorting the rhyming words, if this is tricky just choose 2 words to match the other words to. Be aware that the answers are on the second page so no cheating!! If you want an extra challenge, have a go at writing some funny rhyming captions! Perhaps you can even make up some of your own?
