Don't forget that if you complete your compulsory and recommended activites on this page, you will have an activity on purple mash if you want to do more!

Monday

Compulsory

Here are three different texts for you to read and answer the questions. They are varying in levels of difficulty, 'Zoom to the Moon' is most accessible, 'Polar Bear Fascinating Facts' is most challenging and 'The Queen's Elephant' is somewhere in the middle. You can have a go at all three or choose the one that is most appropriate to you. If you don't have a printer then you can read it on screen and answer the questions separately. Be aware that the answers are on the second page, so don't cheat!!

Use the little bird spelling game to practise your tricky word spellings. You can choose either year 2 or year 1 as it will do you good to recap some of our year one words too. If you have some paper, you can practise writing some of these words (spelling them correctly) into sentences. Just do the pink bird box for today.

Wednesday

Compulsory

Watch the clip 'A Cloudy Lesson' https://www.literacyshed.com/cloudylesson.html se the sheet to idenitfy the different emotions seen in the video. You will probably need to watch the clip more than once and talk to a grown up about the different emotions.

Go to https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/5/sentence-substitution-ph5b and choose a sentence. Read the sentence and see how you can swap in the words at the bottom to create a new sentence that still makes sense. When you have done this you can choose a new sentence.

Thinking about how we change verbs into the past tense by adding -ed, sort these verbs into those that are written in the past tense and those that are written in the present. You can write some into sentences if you want to.

Thursday

Compulsory

Watch the clip 'A Cloudy Lesson' https://www.literacyshed.com/cloudylesson.html  again and use the sheet to create a comic strip of the video. You can watch the clip as many times as you need to.

Use the word search to practice reading and spelling some of our year 2 common exception words. You can practise writing some of them into sentences after you have found them. Make sure you spell them correctly!

Recommended

Use the sheets to write words into the past tense. The first sheet is more accessible, the second sheet is a little more challenging.

Friday

Compulsory

Watch the clip 'A Cloudy Lesson' https://www.literacyshed.com/cloudylesson.html  again and imagine you are the boy in the film. Have a go at answering the questions as if you are the boy. You can use your imagination and make up some extra information based on what you see in the film to help you. You can watch the clip as many times as you need to.

Use spooky spellings to practise spelling some year 1 and 2 common exception words http://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/spookySpellings/index.html

You can choose wither year 1 or 2 as both will be good practise. Start with book 1 on either for now.
