Don't forget that if you complete your compulsory and recommended activites on this page, you will have an activity on purple mash if you want to do more!
Monday
Compulsory
Log into Espresso (details at the top of this page). Go to Key Stage One -> English -> Scroll down to Love Reading with Espresso -> Select 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King-Smith. Read as much of the extract as you can yourself, but if you need to you can click the speaker symbol and it will read it to you. You can do this if you just want to check that you have read it correctly.
Today I want you to make a prediction of what will happen next. This is chapter 1, what do you think will happen to Max in chapter 2? Do you think he will stay in the garden of number 5A? Draw me a picture of what you think will happen next and add some sentences to explain. Try to use the extract to explain why you think what you do and use the word 'because' in your sentences. Make sure you spell it correctly!
Go to http://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/spookySpellings/index.html
Select either year 1 or 2 as both would be good practice. Select book 3 this week and play the game.

Yesterday, we read the opening chapter from 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King-Smith. Re-read it again if you would like to. Below is a sheet with picture instructions for how to draw a hedgehog. Have a go at drawing a hedgehog using these instructions. After this, I want you to write the written instructions to go with the picture instructions on the sheet. Remeber to be specific because I am going to try and follow them! For example:
1. Draw a tear drop for the hedgehog's head on the side of your page.
2. Draw a bigger circle shape behind your tear drop for the hedgehog's body.
Go to https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/5/alt-spellings-oi and use the phoneme spotter to spot alternative spellings for 'o'.

What is an adjective? If you can't remember, use the link below, watch the videos and play the games to remind you.
Below is a picture of a hedgehog. Use this picture to think of as many adjectives as you can to describe the hedgehog and the scene. Make a list of adjectives and then choose your favourites to write into some sentences. Remember your punctuation!

Below is a spelling activity. Page 1 contains a passage. Ask a grown up to read this out to you. The words in bold are missing from your copy of the passage and these are the words you will need to spell correctly. Page 2 has all of the words on that you will need to use. Page 3 is a copy of the passage your grown up will read out, but it has words missing. You need to find and copy the words on page 2 into the spaces.

You can have a go at all three or choose the one that is most appropriate to you. If you don't have a printer then you can read it on screen and answer the questions separately.
