Geography
Last week, we learnt all about England, one of the four countries of the UK. This week we are going to be learning about Scotland, another of the four countires that make up the UK.
I would like you to research some of the key features of Scotland. Below is a document containing some questions to get you started. You don't have to answer all of the questions, choose 2 or 3 that interest you.
Use the sources below to try to answer the questions you have chosen. If you want to use other sources too then you can do. There are some video clips to watch and some fact cards to read through. Use the Views of Scotland video clip to explore different parts of parts of Scotland, its scenery and tourist attractions and events. For today there doesn't need to be a written outcome, it is all about finding out and some discussion. We will present our findings in different ways that celebrate Scotland throughout the week.

Use the reading materials below (and do your own research if you would like) to find out about the Loch Ness Monster.
Follow the instructions on the link below to make your own Loch Ness Monster sock puppet. I think you can make yours even more creative that the one on the link! If you don't have an old sock to make your puppet then I've uploaded a printable template to make a Loch Ness Monster in a different way. You can always draw your own Nessie if you like.

On Friday, you are going to have the opportunity to participate in your own Highland Games from home. First, watch this video clip to get a feel for what the Highland Games in Scotland are all about.
To prepare for your own Highland Games at home, you first need to pick your own Team (or Clan!) name. Use this sheet to help you pick your name.
Next you need to create your own clan flag. There are some traditional Scottish emblems in the document below that you might like to use on your clan flag. You can create your flag in whatever way you like and you can be as creative as you like, but the document below might give you some ideas.

In Scotland, each clan has its own tartan, which can be used to make kilts or other garments to show who comes from which clan. Use the link below to find out more about tartan and Scottish national dress.
Use the colouring page below to design your own tartan for your clan for tomorrow's 'Highland Games at Home'!
Friday
P.E. Highland Games at Home!
So today is the day we've all been waiting for... Highland Games at Home! Watch the video clip again to remind yourselves of what the Highland Games is all about.
Use the document below to look at the different events that you can do in your own Highland Games, I think they would probably be best done outside. Choose the events that you like the look of and that you have the equipment to do at home. You don't have to do all of them. I would love to see some pictures of your Highland Games, so please send them to me using my email address in the welcome section. Get ready and let the games begin!!
Music Day!
Friday 5th February is our school music day. Below I have included some musical activities for you to enjoy on this day.
Here is a music session from Dudley Performing Arts. It's all about body percussion and rap.
Here is a musical story. The story is 'Owl Babies' and it is read with musical accompaniment on the flute. I hope you enjoy it!
The link below has some great musical activites to help the children to get creative! Choose a session and watch the videos. Think about the things mentioned in the teaching notes. Scroll down to section 2 and enjoy some singing practice.
