Monday

Geography

Today, we are learning about the UK and its countries. Visit this page and watch the video clip 'Exploring the UK with Freya' https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zyhp34j/articles/z4v3jhv Notice the four different countries of the UK. You may need to watch the clip more than once. What are the names of the four countries that make up the UK? Scroll down the page and label the countries on the interactive map.

Look at this map on google maps https://www.google.com/maps/@54.5833266,-3.2245777,6.09z Can you spot the UK and its four countries? Play around with the map and zoom into the different countires. Zoom out to see where the UK sits on a world map. Do you notice how small it is in comparison to other countries like the United States of America or Australia?!

Use the sheets below to label the countries of the UK on a map. One map has the coutnires written at the bottom for you to copy, the other sheet you will need to remember how to spell them yourself. If you want an extra challenge, you could try to draw and label your own map of the UK and its four countires.

Tuesday

Geography

Today, we are learning about the UK, its countries and their capital cities. Visit this page and re-watch the video clip 'Exploring the UK with Freya' https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zyhp34j/articles/z4v3jhv Notice the capital cities of the four different countries of the UK. You may need to watch the clip more than once. What are the four different capitals cities?

Scroll further down the BBC bitesize page and label the capital cities on the interactive map. Use the map on google maps https://www.google.com/maps/@54.5833266,-3.2245777,6.09z to locate the capital cities of the UK. Play with the map and zoom into each capital city in turn.

Have a go at adding the capital cities to the map you did yesterday. If you know anything about landmarks in these capital cities (look back at the powerpoint if you're not sure) then you can add a picture of this on too.

Wednesday

Art

Here are some pictures of the flags of the four different countries of the UK. Do you notice how the Union Jack combines all of these flags?

Create your own version of one of these flags. You can do this however you like, you can draw and colour one, collage one, paint one- whatever you can do easily at home. There are some templates below which you can use if you want to, but if you'd rather create your own then that's fine too.
