Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our weekly newsletter!

It's been a very busy week in school and the chilly weather is certainly making us feel like we are heading towards the festive period! The great news is that we haven't had any positive COVID cases this week, so we can confidently plan for some festive fun in the last few weeks of the term (see more details below).

Thankyou for helping us over this last fortnight with the one-way system; we know it doesn't suit everyone. From Monday we will be back to 'any gate in any direction' however we would appreciate it if you could be mindful of passing parents on the narrow path at the front of the school.

Over the last fortnight we have been recording our assemblies (including the ABC assembly) for children to watch in their classrooms. From next week, we will be back to assemblies in the hall; next Friday will be an ABC Assembly (invited parents only) and the following Friday will be our Golden Certificate assembly (again, invited parents only).

Last chance to get snapping!!

Calling all budding photographers...

We are looking for children aged 7-10yrs who would like to enter this year's Young Photographer Competition. This year's theme is 'WILD NATURE'

If you are interested, please email Mrs Brierley ebrierley@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk and she can tell you more information about the competition and forward the information pack to you.

We are really keen to have some entries from Crestwood Park and following the success of Mrs Brierley's competition last year, we know we have lots of talented photographers out there.

Entries need to be in by the end of November, so get snapping!

A message from Mr Powell

This week's times-tables champion is Anna in year 6.

She earned more than twice as many coins as any-one else!

Great work Anna - keep it up!

Flu Immunisation - Survey

We have been asked to pass on a survey about your child's flu immunisations by the School Immunisation team, please find the link below.

Parent and Carer survey link for schools:

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/family-feedback

Don't worry if you have missed it!...

If your children missed the immunisation because they were off this week, don't worry as the school nurses will be back in on 6th Jan. If your child missed it because the form has been mislaid, please pick up a spare, from the office.

Looking after our School Community... Crestwood Park Christmas Lunch...a rethink!

Thankyou to those who have forwarded the names of people in the community for our Christmas Lunch. After lots of consideration, we have decided to change our plans for this year. We feel that people may be reluctant to come in at the moment and we certainly don't want to put people at risk either.

Instead, we are planning a Christmas Community Doorstep Drop to our school neighbours. Our Year 6 SPARKS ambassadors will be doing the delivering so look out for some festive treats left on doorsteps soon!

Appeal for Gloucestershire Student - Blood Stem Cell / Bone Marrow Donor

Please see message below;

I recently reached out to other education establishments and therefore thought I would extend the message to try and share an appeal for donors for blood stem cells / bone marrow.

Olcan is a 6-year-old classmate of my daughter and is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant and their family are therefore appealing for people to become donors to save him and others like him.

90% of donations are via a blood giving process and registration is so simple with an online form and a swab sent to your house.

The more people we can reach the better. Details of the father’s post are below and people can follow Olcan’s progress and show their support on instagram @theincredibleolc

Register as a donor here

Supporting the Black Country Food Bank- 10th December

And finally,

Keep warm over the weekend- we know there has been mention of snow which adds to the excitement! Please remember that if there is anything you need to know about changes because of snow, messages will come out via sch.life.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
