English - Grammar and Punctuation

We will be using classroom secrets grammar and punctuation powerpoints to enable your child to complete the worksheet. The worksheet is based on forming questions.

Now that children are familiar with what a question is and can identify that a question mark is used to demarcate these, they will move on to explore other ways of forming questions.

Many questions start with question words such as when, where, what, who, why and how.

As part of this step children will read and complete simple questions using these question words, such as What is your name? and How old are you?

Curriculum lesson - Science

Share with your child a range of fruit and vegetables that they may or may not have seen before. Place a variety of them on the table, along with a chopping board and plate.

Ask them if they recognise any of them and if they know anyone who grows them. Give your child some time to share ideas about the fruit and vegetables.

Encourage questions such as: What sort of plant does this grow on? Would this be an easy thing to grow? How much water do you think it would need? How long do you think it would take to grow? Ask your child to feel, taste and smell the fruit and veg. Ask them to guess what they look like inside.

Ask your child to choose one of the fruits or vegetables and sketch a picture of the inside and outside. Ask your child to write some simple sentences using their 5 senses (taste, smell, touch, appearance and hear) e.g. The apple tastes sweet and feels smooth.
