English - Grammar and Punctuation

We will be using classroom secrets grammar and punctuation powerpoints to enable your child to complete the worksheet. The worksheet is based on becoming familiar with questions.

A question is a type of sentence which asks for information and ends in a question mark.

In this step children will become familiar with questions and begin to identify them within sentences.

Curriculum lesson - Geography

Use this link to watch a video about emperor penguins:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/science-ks1-ks2-wonders-of-nature-emperor-penguins/zm3ygwx

After viewing this short film, ask: "How do the penguins cope with the cold and snowy Antarctic weather?" Brainstorm your thoughts onto a piece of paper!

Have a go at moving around your house like an emperor penguin!

When you are ready, have a go at the emperor penguin reading comprehension below - please support your child with reading the text.

Covid support

Many children may struggle to think positively. Regular negative thoughts can become a habit and can affect our overall mood and levels of happiness. This simple activity sheet will help children to visualise and recognise positive features in themselves. Try the worksheet below with your child.
