Welcome to our End of Year Newsletter!
There aren't many quiet weeks at CPPS and this week was no exception! The Leavers' Party and Service, the House Prize (well done Rhinos!) and class 'end of year' celebrations all crammed into 3 days. On top of that, a record-breaking heat wave!
We know that the heat caused worries for some families - we really did appreciate parents who asked questions when they were worried and trusted us to take the right precautions to ensure children were well and safe during the high temperatures.
We know that parents worry- you are entrusting us with the most precious things and of course, we expect to be questioned sometimes and challenged from time-to-time. We are very happy to speak to parents at any time- we openly share our email addresses, school leaders are available to talk to daily and we will always get back to you quickly, if you've called with a worry. What is most frustrating for us, is mis-interpreted or incorrect information that has been passed from parent to parent via social media. Obviously we don't often get to see 'what is being said' (and sometimes we don't want to know!) but if you've got a worry, or want to have a moan about something, then please speak directly to us. We will ALWAYS listen.
Our Super Year Six!
Today marked the end of a wonderful school journey for our Year Six class, and what a day it was! They did incredibly well at their 'End of year Service' this morning for their parents and we've had a wonderful day signing Leavers' Books and shirts! As with any journey, there are twists and turns, ups and downs, wrong turns and sometimes dead-ends, but there have also been amazing highlights, super achievements and many, many moments where we have felt incredible pride.
Year Six, we will really miss you...,make sure you come and see us in September if you can, and remember (as Winnie The Pooh once said) how lucky we have been, to have had something that makes saying goodbye, so hard.
Saying Goodbye
Today marked the last day for some of our staff. Miss Williams (Reception), Mrs Cope (KS2) and Mrs Greenfield (Yr6) have all waved sad goodbye to their CPPS family today. We wish each one of them the very best of luck for their new adventures and we hope that we will still see them from time-to-time. Thankyou Amie, Carol and Joy for everything you have given the children and our school during your time with us.
We are also bidding a fond farewell to Mr Dean Hubbard who has been one of our Governors for nine years (and Chair of Governors in recent years). Dean has seen many changes over the years and through these, has been a constant source of support. We would like to extend our huge thanks and appreciation to him for his commitment to the Crestwood Park family.
Happy Birthday to you!
We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Nathan, Eden, Theo, Noah and Matthew who have celebrated their Birthday this week or will be celebrating over the weekend.
And we would like to wish Harper, Kaiden, Amber, Skye, Faith, Caelan, Pabhjod, Alina, Olivia, Amelia-Rose, Nate, Kian, Samuel, Lily, Kayden, Jessica, Jack-James, Isabella, Darntai, William, Kara, Jamie, Sara, Lotty, Eva and Lily who will be celebrating their birthday during the summer break. We hope you all have a wonderful day!
With your support we have...
We would like to share with you what your support and kind donations have been able to provide our children with this year.
£1500 - has been spent on travelling expenses (coaches) and subsiding the cost of school trips so they are cheaper for families.
£850 - has been spent on extra rewards and treats for children e.g. selection boxes, Easter Eggs, rewards and recognition badges.
£1800 - has been spent on extra curricular and enrichment activities e.g. theatre productions, the smoothie bike, Music Day, Science Day workshops and sports taster sessions
£350 - has been spent on our Community Acts of Kindness
Without your generosity and donations, these 'extras' for our children would not be possible. So a huge 'well done' and sincere thanks to you all.

Wellbeing Award!
Once again we have been recognised for our work to support wellbeing and mental health, and we are very proud to announce that we have the Wellbeing Award for Schools for a second time. Thankyou so much to the families that helped with our re-assessment; we really did appreciate your contributions.
We received the full report this week and will shortly be uploading it onto our website, but we wanted to share a few quotes from the assessor, about our marvellous school family!
Parents thoughts... ‘someone is always available if I need someone to talk to. I know I can ask for support and they will listen to me. I can’t speak highly enough about the school and especially the Pastoral Team.’
‘The school really values our opinions – not just to tick a box or get an award – they do it because they genuinely care about us. They know us and all our families and we always feel so supported as a result.’
About interviews with the children... The children talked openly and confidently about how the school looks after them and how much the teachers and other staff care for them. They were able to talk about what they understand about wellbeing and mental health very maturely. One child summed this up by saying that ‘It’s about how you keep your mind healthy and how good mental health gives you a ‘can do’ mentality.’
The Assessors thoughts...The school definitely has a calm and nurturing atmosphere and it was patently obvious to me from spending the day there that Crestwood Park Primary is a school which absolutely places the wellbeing and mental health of its community at the heart of all it does.
The school has a very tangible ‘family feel’ and it was clear to me both from the wellbeing-focused facilities and displays and from the way the children responded so positively to my questions about wellbeing at the school, that Crestwood Park Primary places the happiness of its pupils at the heart of everything they do.

And finally,
Another year has flown by and with it, it's fair share of challenges- thankyou for the support you have given us over the months. The children have had a fun-packed year and on the whole, had a wonderful time. Mrs Kennedy and Mrs Cooper would like to say a particular thankyou- you make leading CPPS a privilege.
We can't wait to see you back on Wednesday 7th September- if you need us in the meantime please email acooper1@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk (but be mindful replies might not be the same day).
We will be seeing some of you at the holiday club next week, but if we don't see you then, have a really good summer, make the most of the moments with your little ones when you have them, look after each other and stay safe.
Lots of love from your Crestwood Park Family.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
