Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter!
Another busy week in school ended perfectly with Year Five's Class Assembly. We learnt lots about volcanoes and even had an erupting volcano as part of the performance- well done Mr Powell and Year 5!
Throughout the day children have been treated to a Science workshop- thankyou for supporting the cost of this. A small contribution from each family means we can invite this kind of visitor in, without excessive cost to the school.
Last night we had the first disco in quite some time- there was plenty of music, dancing, fun and games and Lee the children's entertainer was fantastic. We hope the children enjoyed it- if you have any feedback, please let us know.
Luckily we are not seeing the number of COVID cases as we have done in the past, however, we are seeing some and as such, we need to remember to be careful. We know families aren't testing as often as they were, however testing if children they are feeling under-the-weather is still a good idea and can prevent an outbreak. Thankyou for your support with this.

Our Mother's Day assembly will be on Friday 25th March at 9.10am.
There is no charge but it you will need to book your seat/place via the Teachers2Parents app.
Due to fire regulations in the hall we have to restrict numbers to one ticket per family.
You are welcome to go to your child's class (after the assembly) and take part in a small activity with your child. Tea and cakes will also be available for a small charge.
If you have any queries, please contact the school office.
Science Day
Don't forget to ask your child about the exiting activities they have been doing today in aid of Science Week!
Thank you to all of those who dressed up- you looked fabulous!

Cash for Schools

We know how amazing our parents are in taking part and getting involved with our fundraising efforts - so we have signed up to Cash for Schools!
This time we don't need donations - but we need TOKENS!
You will find tokens in the Express and Star paper every day from now until the beginning of April - so get collecting!
The more tokens we can collect the more chance we have of winning a share of a massive £12,000!
You can hand your tokens to your class teacher.
If you would like a poster to display at your place of work to show that you are collecting on behalf of Crestwood Park, please see the school office.
The more people we have collecting tokens for us the more chance we have of winning!
A message from Mrs Cadman...
Red Nose Day 2022 - Friday 18th March
Thankyou so much for supporting Comic Relief by giving donations in return for red noses! Keep an eye out for the total raised in next week's newsletter!
Looking after our wider community... our Ukraine Appeal
Mrs Brierley & the Sparks Ambassdors would like to express their heartfelt thanks for your very kind and incredibly generous donations. In addition to the huge number of boxes and bags full of essentials, families and staff have donated an amazing £145.00 in cash! This money will be used to purchase even more of the day-to-day products that displaced families need.
Mrs Brierley is taking all of the donations to the Fens Pool Community Centre this evening (we just about managed to squeeze it all in Mrs Brierley's car!)
We are truly overwhelmed with your generosity and thoughtfulness and your kindness will make a difference to Ukrainian families and children in need, at this difficult time.

Wellbeing Award for Schools
Many of you will remember that in 2018, the school was recognised for its work on mental health and wellbeing. The award was the result of collecting the views of staff, parents and pupils, sharing news of the things that were working well and improving any areas that needed further attention. In July, we will be re-assessed for this award and in preparation for that, we would like to gather your views.
Please complete this short survey in as much detail as possible- the surveys are anonymous so please be honest! We know that the most effective way to provide the best educational experience for our children is by working closely with parents and carers.
Thankyou-we really appreciate your input and support.

Monday 21st March is World Down Syndrome Day.
We have a wonderfully diverse school family and Crestwood Park has recently been blessed with a little one with Down Syndrome. To show our awareness, acceptance and celebration of children with this unique condition, all children can come to school wearing odd socks! The 'odd-er' the better!
'Parents' Gardening Group
We are looking for a group of volunteers to help us with some gardening projects around school, particularly the Reception outside area. We are blessed with an amazing space for our youngest learners, but maintaining it is proving tricky!
If you are a parent, carer, grandparent, aunt, uncle or other relation and are willing to give up an afternoon of your time, we would love to hear from you. The first session will be on Thursday 24th at 1pm.
We're not looking for gardening experts, just willing volunteers!
If you are interested, please email Ms Bullas abullas@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk or let the office know.
Thankyou!

And finally,
After one of our Science workshops today, the Scientist gave some feedback to staff. He said that in all of his many years of working in schools, he had not delivered a workshop to such a well-behaved set of children. We are immensely proud of comments like this- we have very high expectations at Crestwood Park and it is wonderful to hear our children being recognised for following our SPARKS (if you've forgotten what SPARKS stands for, ask your children)!
Have a lovely weekend folks- we hope you get some fresh air and see a bit of sunshine!
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
