Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter!

Another busy week at Crestwood Park with an amazing Year 6 and Key Stage Two performance of The Greatest Show to end our day today. The children were amazing- we can certainly see some acting talent emerging! Huge thanks to all who made the performances such a hit.

Earlier in the week we welcomed the last group of our our new Reception children and their families- it was lovely to see them in school and we very much look to welcome them formally in September.

Years 3,4 and 5 enjoyed Commonwealth Games Workshops this week - we hope they enjoyed the sessions.

Our Parent Voice group met today- thankyou to those parents who met with Mrs Kennedy- don't forget you can join this group whenever you would like- take a look at the Parent Voice page on our website for more details.

Finally, the School Council Tuck Hut has been a huge success- next week we will be selling sweets at the end of the day on Wednesday.

Hot Hot Hot!

With temperatures set to rise to record breaking temperatures next week, we would like to draw your attention to the following suggestions and plans for Monday and Tuesday next week.

-Children can wear school uniform or SCHOOL PE kit, or a combination of the two- which ever is cooler for your child.

-All children need a water bottle please. Children will be allowed to keep these on their desks and there will be regular 'hydration stops' to make sure children are drinking regularly. Please ensure bottles are named.

-Children will take part in Yoga or similar 'calm' activities during PE sessions.

-We will reduce the time children spend outside and if temperatures rise as forecasted, they will stay indoors during lunchtime.

-If and when children do go outside, they need a sun hat and sun-cream.

-There will be additional measures in school, to keep classrooms cool.

Any questions or concerns- please ask.

Naughty Nasty Nits are back again!

It has come to our attention that there has been a few cases of headlice across the school.

Treatment: Wash hair and apply a generous amount of conditioner. With a fine toothed comb, carefully comb the hair from the scalp to the end of the hair. Look at the comb after each stroke and wipe clean. If done thoroughly, this will remove all live lice as the hair is so slippery they can't cling on! This is the most effective treatment, but needs repeating on a daily basis until all eggs have vanished. Chemical treatments can be purchased over the counter but it is known that some head-lice become resistant to these and, therefore, no chemical preparation is 100% effective.

We have some combs available to buy in school, so if you need one please pop into the office.

Please remember, there is no shame in having head-lice but it is shameful to do nothing about it!

A message from the Pastoral Team...

Hello everyone, we hope you are all well. As we're nearing the end of the summer term, our 'Little buddy' sessions and small group work are sadly coming to an end.

We hope the children have benefited from these sessions and will have hopefully learnt a lot from their experiences.

When we come back in September, staff will monitor all children and new groups will begin.

Please contact us if you would like an update at any time or if you feel your child would benefit from support.

Lastly, if any of you are decluttering, we would be so grateful for any donations of jigsaws (100 pieces) or baby dolls and accessories. During roll play our children love our home corner. Jigsaws can also be a lovely calming group or individual activity.

Thank you for always being so supportive, have a great weekend, don't forget your sun hat and suncream, take care xx

The Greatest Show

Key Stage 2 put on an amazing show this week.

The singing was sensational from Years 3,4 and 5 and the acting and dancing was simple superb from the Year 6 children!

We were all blown away by their incredible talent.  Well done!

Don't forget your 'Pick-up Passwords'

Don't forget you can pass your 'pick-up password' to your trusted adults to be able to collect your children from school should home time arrangements change during the day. If your trusted adult knows the password you do not need to call the school office to confirm collection by another adult.

As long as the adult collecting your child/ren know the password set by you - we will allow them to leave with their trusted adult.

If you have forgotten your password or would like to change it please speak to your class teacher. The password will move up with your child next year.

Keeping safe online...

No-one wants that awful moment when you're watching a film with your child and something 'inappropriate' is shown on screen that makes you both wish the ground would open up! It's not just the embarrassment that we should think about, but seeing or hearing something that is meant for older viewers can really upset children and play on their minds. They might not always tell you how uncomfortable or worried they feel, so to avoid that happening, check out the website below.

Congratulations!

Well done Cooper for running the equivalent of half a marathon during running club!
